I teach in a school so was asking our school nurse about how to go about claiming a religious exemption. She told me my pastor would have to give me and fill out the exemption form. She showed me a copy of the form and I pointed out to her that there was no place for the pastor to sign, just the parent.
She was surprised and then told me that the pastor would have to write a letter to the school district and state my religion and church of attendance. Is it legal for a school district to ask what your religion is or to ask for proof of attendance to that church?
ETA: When I told her I thought it was illegal to ask she seemed unsure and said she would check into it.
