The "minor complication" that led to Angelina's C-section was a breech presentation. Sigh.

I also read that Gwen Stefani had an elective c/s.

If it's so minor, why does it result in mom having major abdominal surgery?

I think that people/docs etc. forget that breech is not a complication. It's merely an alternate presentation.

It's hard for me to read about celeb mom's who are out there saying they elected for a c/s for whatever stupid b.s. reason they have and then saying they just don't want to bf for another stupid b.s. reason. It pisses me off and makes me very sad. You'de think with all the money they have, the least they could do is hire someone to help them make smart, informed, and semi-intelligent choices. Urggg...

My midwife taught me the same thing way back whendd#2 was presenting breech.....

"Breech is not a complication. It is another variation of normal."

Interesting comment Mrs Hos. A friend of ours has herpes as a result of her mom passing it to her during birth, but it was not her first outbreak. Interesting.

Joely Fisher recently had a homebirth with a midwife, she said it was an awesome experience. Rod Stewarts wife had a natural birth, it was a planned waterbirth but I dont know if they were in the water, but I believe they were in a hospital. Erykah Badu and, more recently, Laura Dern have had homebirths.

I just finished the whole thread and the ones I mentioned were already mentioned before by you knowledgeable ladies Sorry!

Jennifer Garner and Geri Halliwell and Lea Lachey (drews wife, drew being Nicks brother) are all on the apparently for no reason c section list, if I remember correctly.

Wow, I had not heard about Jennifer Garner or Lea Lachey! When did Lea have her baby? She looked really pregnant at the end of the last Dancing with the stars season but then I never heard a baby announcement.

Don't all of these celebrities only have homebirths because they don't want the paparazzi in their faces and getting pics of their newborns? I find it hard to believe that many of them really want a homebirth for the sake of homebirth. Other than the obvious Tom-Kat baby situation. Of COURSE, they would have a homebirth.

Matt Damon's wife is pg (still I think) and I am betting all my doughnuts on a c/sectio for her. Basing this solely on her giving birth in Miami where most hospitals range from 41-62% c/section rates.

And on the "choice" c/section. I recently had a doula client, very wealthy international social-type and she had a great natural birth, very peaceful and healthy. She won't tell anyone! She says she feels like a freak because her other friends all over the world have elective c/section.

But they didn't. She had a hospital birth.

well, in the interviews I heard with Joely Fisher and Patricia Arquette, both said they felt like something was/would be lacking in the experience of birth in a hospital (Joely has one older child who was born in a hospital, while Patricia homebirthed her first and only baby, I believe...)

Patricia said something was missing from her first birth - she has a teenager, too.

Now lets see, what do you think Anna Nicole Smith will have?
She had a vaginal hosp birth the first time and, according to a Howard Stern interview, she did not BF, although she wanted to, but the nurses told her she couldnt.

See, Jenny McCarthy says the same thing in her lame book Belly Laughs or the other one Baby Laughs...or something like that. That she was told not to breastfeed too ( I am guessing Anna was given the same reasons) because of implants.
You would think with all their $ that they could hire a lactation consultant for 30 minutes to tell them otherwise. OR if they just flat out don't care too, just say so and quit perpetuating the rumor that implant make it impossible to nurse!

I read that book and she didn't sound the least bit disappointed. I got the feeling she really preferred to formula feed. In fact, I didn't even remember that she had implants I just remember that she chose to FF.
