they liked my idea for a corporate lactation program!

so i posted a few months back about the new campaign at work to generate new ideas for the company to save money or improve employee satisfaction, etc.

i made a total of three submissions, but the best one was for our company to devote a mostly unused room to moms who needed to pump.

the MDC mamas did an awesome job og pointing me toward websites and i wrote a proposal based on them.

i found out today that it will likely be implemented. the quality services director for our location came to my desk to ask for additioanl info i said i had she told me that it is currently at the highest level of review. she's so comfident it will pass that she brought in a new fridge to be dedicated for the storage of human milk! lol its not cuz anyone thinks its gross, its just that the room is really far from the breakroom so its gonna get its own fridge.

and not to sound selfish, but im now in the running to receive up to a $300 prize!

thought you all would like to hear this good news!

thanks again to those who helped.

As a WOHM who spent months pumping in the back of my van in the parking lot I applaud you.

And as far as the fridge goes, seriously, I would not want to keep my milk in the break room fridge, ours is normally disgusting because people leave stuff in there until it grows fur and crawls away. I think that grossness factor goes both ways. I always kept mine in my cooler. I sometimes had male colleages make some comments (like if I used an empty office next to their cubicle to pump) so I always offered them milk to use with their coffee. Usually shut them up, but we had a good laugh about it.

I wish we had enough bfing moms here so I could get this implemented before I have my next child.

This is great encouragement for me. I am working on the same issue at my company. I found a good handout here that I sent to our Director of Operations along with a lengthy email.
