cotton fleece vs polyester fleece?

i made a whole bunch of covers (I'm very new at this and unsophisticated, so tell me like i was a 2 year old, please) from cotton fleece and they are so much cuter than the pul covers and easier to sew. but will these work as well as polyester fleece at wicking? and then for inserts, should i make any from cotton fleece or just all polyester fleece? I'm trying to recycle some sweaters and blankets, but i'm really unknowledgable on this. baby's not here yet so i can't test it. Thanks ahead of time.

Cotton absorbs moisture so will NOT work as a cover, but will work as a diaper.
Polyester, otoh, will block the moisture.

Hope that helps!

The cotton fleece "covers" you just made will work as fitted diapers. You'll need a cover over them to prevent wicking. If they're only 1 layer of cotton fleece you'll probably need extra absorbancy inside- either sew in another layer of fleece or use with doublers.

Thick polyester fleece makes good covers. Thin microfleece (polyester) makes a good "stay dry" liner as moisture will wick from the fleece into the diaepr and keep the surface relatively dry next to baby's skin.

You can test out the diapers by laying them out on a counter, pouring water on, and pressing down.
