i got some thinking it would be easier than the other kinds. so far i've used lastin and a cotton elastic and I thought the foldover would be nice to finish the edges with. are there any tricks to it? i may just be doing it wrong. how do you use it, or what have your experiences with it been? thanks.

I use it
i use fold over elastic and have had good results. I have used the 3/4" (I think) I am told that the wider one is a little softer. I have noticed that sometimes it seems to leave red marks on little thighs. I have used it mostly for covers, which have consisted of one layer of pul and one layer of a decorative print for the outside. I think it can make it a little easier if you baste the two diaper pieces together right at the edges so that the dont slip and slide around and you can make sure to catch both layers. I lay the FOE flat under my needle under the diaper pieces with half of it exposed and then fold it over-holding it in place under my presser foot. zig zag back and forth a few times to secure it and then zig zag all the way around, stretching it where you want the gather. go slow around the curves-that can be tricky. It gets easier with practice.

I use 1" FOE. I have some video tutorials on sewing with it on my website. Although I use my products in the videos - they should apply to just about any pattern or sewing. Hope they help!
