It was today, last year, that I had mine and I think we started at Noon
and my boy was born at 12:21 pm.

Both were unplanned emergencies. DS was born at about 9:20pm and I cannot remember exactly when DD was born but it was around 1pm. It was supposed to be in the morning but they didn't have an OR free.

Ooops, I only voted for one time frame cause I was thinking it included both of them, but yeah, Abigail was actually AFTER 6 pm, so that was supposed to be a vote for that time frame, too. Sorry if I messed up your poll.

Abigail was born 6:13 pm (after 3 days of labor and no progress, and 12 hours after midwife broke my water against my wishes)

Sophia was born 12:39 pm (following a post term appointment that indicated there was 0 amniotic fluid and her heart rate was rapidly dwindling - became an emergency within a matter of minutes).

1st was born at 8:31 pm after 21 hours of labor and 3 hours of pushing, he just wasn't coming out, no matter what we tried.

2nd was born at 5:28pm after me being sent over directly from the u/s tech at the hospital to labor and delivery. Dr left his practice and appts to do the surgery. ds had NO fluid and was breech and had a knot in his cord. He couldn't move and his head was stuck under my ribs.

I have no regrets with either and don't feel that either of my surgeries had anything to do with "convenience".

My first was around 8:00 pm. My second was scheduled for early afternoon but she was impatient and it was actually around 10:00 pm, a few days earlier than scheduled.

I can't imagine why it would be a problem to have scheduled c-sections occur during business hours. OB's work around the clock, have long office hours, deliver babies at all hours, any day of the week. If a doctor plans all of her scheduled c-sections for Thursdays between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, more power to her. They deserve to have some semblance of free time. I would imagine that if you did a survey of delivery times for SCHEDULED c-sections, votes would be fairly high for early in the day...and rightly so.

ETA: I only voted once since both have the same answer. Add an extra vote for me in the 6:00 pm or later column

6:30 PM unplanned c/s after about 10 hours of labor (7 cm dilated)

so what patterns is the research showing you? I am curious!

I'm asnwering for my SIL- she had two in the first bracket- 12:30ish and 4:30ish am.
She went into labor during the day, and they waited until she was more into labor. Both babies were 35 weeks to the day- knowing her provider, had she gone later and it been scheduled, they dfinately would have been 8am sections.
