Manly scented body wash.

By manly, I mean nasty, cheap cologne scented.

My DH uses those nasty AXE body washes. That's fine. For him. But my DS wants stuff that smells the same. I do not want him to use that stuff. Right now he uses Dr. B's. But he asks all the time if he can use daddy's stuff. I, of course, say no.

So does anyone know of "manly" scented natural soaps for my DS? This boy could really use the encouragement to shower on a more regular basis.

Add a couple of drops of essential oil to the unscented Dr. Bronners. There are many different essential oils available, and many of those are "manly" scents!

Try:

Bay oil (the base for Bay Rum, one of my personal favorites)
Lemongrass
Orange, Lime or other citrus
Peppermint (avoind during the Winter as it can make you feel colder!)
Clove
Cinnamon
Sweet Birch
Lavender
Sandalwood (Indian is endangered, Australian is sustainable)

Remember, go sparingly on these.

Essential oils are powerful and too much of certain ones can be bad (some should never be used during pregnancy).

Get yourself a book on essentail oil/aromatherapy and educate yourself on these. There are a lot of good books on the subject available!

My husband and son like Eucalyptus essential oil. I think it has a masculine smell.

Chagrin Valley has a couple soaps that DH likes (and he's picky on smelly "manly" lol) -
Citrus Woods Green Tea
Java Spice

Although I use something different from there on my 1 and 4 yo, in a pinch I would use DH's on them.

Frankincense is another essential oil that has a woodsy, manly scent. As does cedarwood.

My DH used the calendula body bar from Toms of Maine...he loves it and he smells...mmmm...mmmm...good.

My DS (9) uses it too and it's very gentle to his skin.

Herbal cowboy

I just recently found Herbal Cowboy at my local health food store. It smells WONDERFUL! Very manly! I like the "dusk" variety.

Lots of things to try. I think I'll take him out to the HFS today and let him pick out his new "manly" scent.

I think after I have the baby we'll try EOs and make our own scents. That might be a fun project.
