Let's see.
Thursday afternoon, started feeling a little off.
Had about 4 poops throughout the day which is so not me!
Felt like something was changing but wasn't exactly sure.
Friday morning lost 2 big chunks of clear mucous plug.
Had an appointment with midwife who checked me to be just about 2 cm and 50% effaced. Which was not a huge change from the appointment earlier that week.
Came home and took an hour long walk.
Continued to lose little bits of mucous plug throughout day, started feeling crampy.
Hydrated like crazy trying to prep my body!
Had a relaxed evening just hubby and me
Decided for the first time I wanted to try to sleep downstairs in the recliner because the bed had been so uncomfortable last couple of nights.
Still couldn't get comfortable.
Woke up a few times feeling crampy and uncomfortable.
By 2am contractions were about 15 minutes apart and painful.
I couldn't go back to sleep!
Folded some laundry, watched some TV, tried to go back to sleep but that wasn't happening!
By 3:30 had lost big chunk bloody mucous plug.
By 4:30 contracting every 5 minutes
Called the midwife by 7am to update her and ask if she'd check me. I was in a lot of pain already by that point and contractions were taking some concentration to get through.
Midwife checked me to be about same as day before at appointment
:
This was going to be a loooooong day!!!
Midwife left for a while. Hubby and I tried to rest.
Another midwife stopped by to check in a few hours later and didn't like that I couldn't get any sleep and had been up since 2am so she had me take Benadryl to ease up contractions and help me sleep.
I took a tubby to help relax first but that didn't help much.
I was already getting exhausted though.
Benadryl helped a bit. I was able to drift off between contractions and they had slowed down and were only coming about every 15 minutes.
Midwife checked in again around noon to check me again.
I was at 3-4 cm! OH mY GOd!!! This was going soooo slow and it hurt so bad!
I started to get nauseous with contractions around this point and started to throw up.
This continued up until I delivered! It was horrible!
I had a birthing pool that I used for about 1 hour total out of the whole 22 hour labor.
The pool helped relax me to the point where contractions slowed down alot again but when they did come they felt stronger than they had when I wasn't in the pool---and I started to get too hot!
Felt like FOREVER before I got to 8cm.
Mom and sister were in and out of the house to check on me and the midwife was downstairs relaxing but other than that it was just me and hubby. Everything was really quiet.
My mom said she felt like she was in church.
She said everything was quiet and still and then you'd hear me start moaning through a contraction.
Hubby was great
He never left my side, just rubbed my back the whole time.
There was one point just after I was checked to be 5cm where I told him I didn't think I was going to be able to make it and he was like "of course you can" and we left it at that. He really helped me alot.
We did alot of kissing and cuddling and it was nice to have it be just the 2 of us for most of the time.
I was really glad I was at home!
At 8cm the midwife broke my water which felt nice.
After that it was like a roller coaster ride down hill!
I sat on the birthing ball through the next few contractions and it got to a point where I just COULD NOT hold back any more and my body started pushing.
MY mom and hubby made a few phone calls to friends who wanted to be there for the birth and everyone was there within minutes.
I delivered standing next to the bed.
Occasionally I would bend over and could see through my legs and I was infront of the bedroom door and all I could see was legs moving around and camera flashes going off.
15 minutes of pushing and he was out!
What a relief!!!
He came so quick the midwife almost dropped him, she caught him by his ankle and then I grabbed him up right away.
He was born April 12th at 11:56pm
9's all around for the apgar score. great lungs
Had a first degree tear sewn up and didn't get numbed for it
: (that's a whole other story!)
Baby Levi was 6lbs. 12 oz. and "19in" long
I was so glad to be home already!!!!
But it'll definetly be a while before I do that again!
