I am trying to get rid of cockroaches naturally to avoid exposing my LO to the harsh bug spray toxins. I've tried using sugar w/baking soda, its been 2 wks and I still see them, any other suggestions?

I've seen borax power used for the palmetto bugs in SC.

And a link I haven't completely read through yet:

diamataceous earth

You can buy it at hardware stores.

borax will work but unfortunately nothing works as well as poison. Also those old sticky traps work really well and there is no poison in those just a bait and sticky glue stuff to trap them.

Can you get it at Lowe's?

When we lived in Hawaii it was a large glass jar with a few blobs of peanut butter and some water in the bottom. Roaches crawl in, but they can't crawl out.

PS. If you do this, do not empty the jar near a mealtime as it is NASTY.

If you use diatomaceous earth, you need to find food grade DE--not the stuff that is used for pool filters. That form is very irritating to the lungs, etc., and can be dangerous.

There is a natural product called Orange Guard that is supposed to be good for killing roaches. It's made from orange peel oil...supposedly dissolves the exoskeletons of insects, but is pretty harmless to people and pets. I've used it for ants with pretty good luck, but (luckily) haven't had experience with it and roaches!

Good luck!
