Thread Starter
I was just enjoying a woooonderful new soap this morning and wanted to share it with y'all, and also to see what sorts of products you enjoy especially while pregnant. My favorites are:

this soap from Sparta Soap on etsy: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php...ng_id=11010685
The ginger and salt are lovely. It stopped the queasies!

and this belly balm from Bird's Nest Body:

It feels so lovely! I was her tester back in 2006, and that second testimonial is from me, because I loved it so much. My first pot is on the way?

How 'bout you guys?

ANYTHING and EVERYTHING from Earth Mama Angel Baby.

I don't know what I'd do without their nipple butter and I don't know how I'd have survived postpartum without the postpartum spray and mama bottom balm. The baby bottom balm is the only thing I've found that actually heals diaper rash, and its safe for cd. The bath herbs are awesome... even their lip balm is the best!

Their products make the best baby shower gifts!

Okay, simple, inexpensive, and really really really nuturing. . .

I love Sweet Alomd Oil from Aura Cacia.

It's sold at most co-ops and about $5 here in MN, it goes on so smoothly, I put it on my belly, my thighs, my butt and my boobs to prevent stretch marks. It works way better than coco-butter and I have ZERO stretchmarks from my last pg. Plus its a great carrier oil, I add Lavender essential oil if I anticipate a rough night. It's wonderful honestly! I highly reccomend it. I also of course like Mother to be tea for nausua.

Last time I used unrefined shea butter on my belly and thighs and I feel it really helped to keep stretch marks at bay. It smells and looks a little weird at first, but I got used to it quickly. I'd link to the place we bought it from, but that was 2 years ago and I can't remember the name. I just did a search for "unrefined shea butter" and found several places selling it online.

You're not the only one Mama ...not sure why but mine's been acting up too. Haven't had a problem since about a week PP with DS2.

Do you think that or the EMAB balm would work better? I'm ordering one of 'em soon! :

gosh, I dunno. I bought the rhoid balm because my co-op sells it and it worked for me last time, but the EMAB balm sounds good too. I found out this morning from my herbalist that yarrow is good for hemorrhoids (she actually prescribed it to me), and the Motherlove doesn't have yarrow in it, but I have to wonder whether the peppermint in the EMAB would sting if you had a really sensitive bum, or 'rhoids that are bleeding. I know why they put it in there - the cooling feeling - but hm, I'm feeling ouchie potential.

Maybe I should order one and do comparison testing

I must very sheepishly add that my friend, a doctor, told me that stretch marks are formed in the subcutaneous layer of your skin and your tendency toward stretch marks has more to do with your skin type that you inherited... you can rub every kind of salve, oil and butter you want on your belly and, while the self-love involved with rubbing your belly is very, very good, if you're going to get stretch marks, you're going to get stretch marks. Like me. Sigh.

Well, I ordered some EMAB balm. I don't think the peppermint will be a problem, but will report back

I also ordered the belly oil and some body butter, even though I know that it won't affect stretch marks (I've definitely heard that about them too).
I've actually told people and some of them wouldn't believe me!

Whatever.

I got some of the baby oil for the kids too, I use olive oil most of the time but loved the Weleda when I was using it. I figured I'd get the free shipping + samples if I got 4 items, so why not?

Do you think I use too many smilies? :

Good deal. I looked at my motherlove after I posted last and saw that it also does have yarrow in it, and calendula. But yes - report back!

Yeah, a lot of people tell me that too - I think it's because of the prevalence of products in the market that promise to keep them at bay. But it *does* feel nice to rub your belly, and I am sure that baby likes all of the backrubs.

lovelovelove anything Weleda makes. Except that I'm bummed that Skin Food is peanut-oil based, since I try to avoid peanuts in pregnancy... :

After magpiedee suggested the ginger soap, of course sparta sold out on Etsy! How many of you guys rushed over there to buy some Anyway, I saw she had some today and ordered it and I also suggested that she may want to list some extra just in case... So if you are looking for it there should be some available now. I'll try to remember to report back on what I think, too
