virtual homeschooling?

Hi

My husband's cousins recently completed their homeschool program and are attending university now. They were doing all of highschool with some online academy/classroom.

While it's not ideal, I'd like to look into it as a backup because I'm going through some health issues that are making it extremely difficult to do anything with my kids. My older (4.5 yo) dd loves learning and while she "would be" in Senior Kindergarden this year, she's more at a grade 1/2 level and always seems to need to be engaged in something.

I was wondering if anyone knows of some programs I could look into.

it totally depends on your state, but www.k12.com and www.connectionsacademy.com and calvert are some big ones i know of in my state. some states have no virtual schools at all for free, while others have too many to mention. i'd personally be interested in connections and it's new to my state in 2008-2009 so i'm going to an info meeting wed. to find out about it hth!!!!

I used k12 the last year I homeschooled. I was working full time and my DH was terminally ill.

It worked well. I wish I had stuck with it. I sent him to school, with me, when my DH died. I did not want him to stay home alone. Looking back, it would not have been an issue as things worked out. Anyway...

My son was 11 at the time, however and he was quite on his own with it at the time.
