Are you planning it already? Or allready gone?
Do you plan it right away or wait till you get over your m/s??

What is everyones plan?

Honest, Is there any harm at all in me waiting untill after m/s comes & goes before my first appt? Is there any RISk in me waiting?

I don't really worry about it until about 12 weeks. I figure all that can really happen before then is an m/c, and I know what to do in that situation, so I'm okay with that. I think if you're nervous about it or have concerns its a good idea to go early, but if not, I don't see the rush.

I have my first appt on may 2, at about 8 weeks. I want to double-check that all my asthma meds are ok, and ask about iron supplements. With my daughter I was pretty severly anemic by the end of the first trimester. I'm also really hoping they can hear a heartbeat at that point.

Since I've done this three times before, my first will be 12 weeks.

My first appointment is at 9 weeks, but that's just for background medical information and getting blood drawn. My first real appointment, is at 11 weeks. I sort of wish it was sooner, even though I don't know what they could possibly do sooner than that. This is my first, and so I just feel a bit lost, I guess.

My first was about 12 hours after I POAS, just to get the meds going. I had my first u/s on Monday to make sure babe is intrauterine, and yay, babe is!!!

So unless I have any problems, I don't expect to see a doc again.

Well, mine was scheduled for yesterday, but was cancelled at the last minute. I'm between 7 and 8 weeks depending on what you go by (2 different ultrasounds, or my LMP). I was able to get in with the ultrasound tech, though, and things are doing great!

So now I'll have my first visit at between 9 and 10 weeks. Although, this pregnancy has been pretty easy! I've felt pretty good, no cramps, just tired. Its all good!

I just made my 1st appt. w/ a MW for Wednesday afternoon. I have never met her, so I hope all works out well.

I already went in to talk with the midwife I trained with. I'm not entirely sure where I'm going to birth or who I'm going to birth with. I wanted to talk to her and get her opinions. She also recently opened a birth center and I wanted to see it. I'm waiting for a medicaid appointment and then I'll visit the midwives that delivered my girls at the hospital. I have a lot of thinking and figuring out I need to do.

Before I even got my BFP I had an appointment scheduled for this thursday just to see if there was anything I should know/do other than taking vitamins when TTC but they canceled it on me a few days later. I got my BFP on Saturday and called up my Dr. and the earliest they are even interested in seeing me is May 28th ugggggghhhhhh so far away!

This is my first and I just still feel so unsure about everything and I'd just like to know exactly how far along I am and that every thing looks ok so far and to know if all this cramping is normal/ok. (my mom isn't helping by constantly telling me not to get my hopes up till the 2nd trimester)

Man I thought the TWW was hard, these next 5 weeks wait is going to drive me up the wall.

bifferman, sorry you have to wait 5 weeks. I hope the time goes easy on you. waiting is often hard.

biffer, I don't know your situation, but you can always try seeing another provider, *especially* if you have specific concerns involving your pregnancy. At the very least, your ob or midwife could meet with you to discuss nutrition, vitamins, what to expect, that sort of thing. They should be there to support you on *your* timetable, you know?

With my first, I had my first appointment at 9 weeks, and it did feel like forever, but with this one, I want to see someone earlier, so I am. I just believe strongly in being an assertive patient, and I know with OB-Gyn's that you can sometimes feel like you're being "managed" instead of treated like a human being.

Congrats, and good luck!

I see my RE's once a week, but my first real prenatal appointment is May 12th with a midwife.

I have my first next week, at just under 7 weeks. I called the midwife last week, to make sure she still had space in December, and she wanted to book me in right away. I was a bit surprised actually - what on Earth can a person do at that point in the game?! She said she likes to talk about the "lifestyle" stuff asap. In any case, it is fun to be seen that early.
I agree, biffer, if you want/need to be seen earlier, by all means, just ask. We have this odd power differential ingrained into our psyches when it comes to the medical world, but, in reality, you are the "boss".

I'm going May 28th, I'll be 11 or 12 weeks I guess? My midwife and I know each other well, this is my third baby, and I teach pregnancy nutrition classes so I am good to go there...she left it up to me and since I just had an annual w/ pap not too long ago I figured there's really no reason to go any earlier.

I was anemic with my last pregnancy so I may just start taking Floradix before I even go in.

I am seeing the midwife this Wedensday and my hubby would like to me my old OBGYN so that one is next week. So i am about 7 weeks this week and 8 next week with the OBGYN... How do I convince my hubby the midwife is just as good as a doc and everything will be ok..... no hospital is needed...he is not willing to go against the grain even though it is #4.

Will be 8 or 9 weeks for me.

I had my first appt. at 4 weeks...and it was too early! I was sent for my hcg test at 5 weeks and I just had my first u/s today. I'm 6 weeks along. I'm going back to the doctor next Tuesday for my next appointment. I guess I would consider this one coming up my real first appt. so that would be 7 weeks.

i always call the midwife right away and schedule my first appoint about 12 wks. They can't really do anything before then anyways. The heartbeat can't usually be heard until 10-12 wks and not hearing a heart beat is way freakier then just waiting to hear it.

I'm going at 7-8 weeks. This is my 3rd but my Dr always does and ultrasound and it gives me peace of mind to see that beating heart!!
