Evenflo & WHO Code Compliance

Thread Starter
I was at a lactation conference today where Nancy Mohrbacher was the speaker. (She co-authored the Breastfeeding Answer Book - LLL, as well as Breastfeeding Made Simple). She told the story about Evenflo buying Ameda and becoming WHO Code compliant in the process. Evenflo is very close to reaching that goal, and you can see by the lack of bottles and nipple images on their website. Apparently, they have been receiving lots of negative feedback from folks who are looking for those items and not finding them anymore on the website. Nancy encouraged everyone at the conference who felt inclined to write a quick positive note to Evenflo for adhering to the Code. Seems like a good idea, so I'm passing it on!

I have a little Evenflo single electric breastpump that was given to me by a friend. I wasn't sure about it at first, but it's actually mighty little pump.

coolness. I have the single electric breastpump from Evenflo (my only complaint is that it's a loud little bugger).

Hello Erin,

Thank you for your feedback on the Evenflo website.

To help encourage and support breastfeeding, Evenflo does not advertise bottles and nipples to consumers, including on our website. We continue to make the highest-quality bottles and nipples which are available at most major retailers.

Evenflo has taken steps to become WHO (World Health Organization) Code compliant. This means some changes have been made to our website and to our marketing practices. In accordance with WHO Code requirements, Evenflo has taken three steps:

Discontinued all bottle and nipple advertising directed to consumers
Changed our packaging to align with WHO Code guidelines
Removed bottle/nipple images and sales from the Web site
We are available to take your call Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST at 800-233-5921. If you are in Canada, please call us at 1-937-773-3971.

I greatly appreciate the time you’ve taken to email and let us know how supportive you are to Evenflo for making these changes.

Thank you for contacting Evenflo ParentLink. We appreciate the time taken to email us and for your interest in Evenflo products!

Pretty good except that they still "advertise" about their "quality nipples" in e-mails.

They're a very nice company. I've done a number of market studies with them lately (they are based in Vandalia OH). I'm encouraged by a large scale company in the US seeking to become WHO compliant and hope that others will follow suit.
