knitting wool longies--will it work with superwash wool?

So, if I'm knitting these myself anyway, I'm wondering if I can use superwash wool and have them be machine washable longies...?! I don't know exactly what makes superwash washable...is it chemically treated? Would it NOT be good for longies? I don't totally understand how wool longies work (I just know I love them and need more!) so I don't know whether the superwash would be a great idea or a terrible one...
Can somebody please help me!!!
Thank you

Superwash will not work for longies. It's treated with resin(?) to keep the wool fibers from sticking to eachother (aka felting). Part of the deal with longies/soakers is that the wool absorbs a lot before begining to feel damp. So you want the absorbtion factor.
There is a Yarn Crafts forum here that has a lot of great info. on longies/soakers.

Pants that are knit (or crocheted) out of wool to go over cloth diapers. Shorties are the shorts version.

I agree. Don't use superwash. Save it for a nice little sweater. Wool is wonderful for soakers, and you'd lose most of the benefit by using superwash.
