HELP us with a name!

Well, we have had the HARDEST time coming up with a boy name. My husband has been a little picky; I think he feels the pressure of choosing just the right name for our little boy! So here are the two that we've come up with:

Ian William Davis (William after my husband, another alternative we thought of is Scott after his bro)

or

William Vincent Davis III (My husband is the second, this was not something that we were considering doing for the longest time, but it's resurfaced as an option due to some family pressure. Both Williams go by Bill. We need other nickname options if we go with this. Ideas?)

Or, would you choose neither? Does Ian sound right with William as a middle name? Would you consider having a III (at first we wanted his name to be a bit more original, but we feel as if we're disapointing his family)? What about nicknames? There are so many other names *I* like, but as I said earlier, we've had a really hard time agreeing! I think that we are going to choose names before we decide to have another baby, that way pressure and pregnancy hormones don't interfer again!

Well, my brother is IV, so some people do go that far. However, he claims if he has a boy he won't go for V.

I like both of the names. The nickname would make the difference for me on going with William Vincent. My cousin is named William and goes by Will. I like it. I'm not a big fan of Bill or Billy, though.

I have two friends who have named their sons Ian and that name has really grown on me. What does your gut tell you?

A friend of mine named her son William, but he goes by Liam

My brother is William Edgar Mitchell III...and is a Billy. My mom said if she had it to do over, she would have called him Trey or Trip (for the 3rd).

Billy plans on naming his son the 4th, but calling him Liam.


I think Trey, Trip and Liam are all great choices for a 3rd William!

I like the NN Will. And I think the 3rd is kinda cool. But I can understand you wanting some individuality too. Its a nice enough name. Not like its Rupert Humperdink III or something.

i was going to suggest Liam too...i also like Will.

Ian and the last part of willIAM kinda have the same letters...but isn't too bad. i probably wouldn't tho.

What about a newer version of the III ? like Liam David or something?
