I also had 8 eggs this month and I will be due on mine and DH 8 year anniversary (8 years together, not wedding) This is also our 8th cycle of doing fertility meds.

The 2ww gets longer every cycle.. Today 3 dpo and crampy.. I never noticed how fast after O my bb's get sore.. Funny how every month my symptoms differ. I would never have noticed them before ttc.. How is everyone??

Well, FF gave me crosshairs on CD 13 (though I think CD 14 might be correct) so I'll be expecting AF the weekend of May 3/4.

I'm demanding self-control this time around, and still plan to test on May 6. (Plus, I'm not going to buy any more stupid dollar store tests, because I know I'm too cheap to obsessively use the good ones!)

If I make it to May 6 without AF, I'll have a pretty good idea I'm PG anyway, because it will be either 17 or 18 high temps past O. *crosses fingers*

Hi Ladies!
I am pretty new to this forum but wanted to chime in and let you know that I am going to be testing on May 6th!! Just had my first IUI after ttc for a year and I am optimistic that it worked! I am trying to think very positively and really trying hard to take it easy and not stress
The entire ttc process is extremely difficult but the waiting is so difficult...especially if you wait just to get a BFN!!
Anyway, best wishes to all of you and may everyone's dream of having a baby come true!!

stayinghopeful, congrats on getting through the IUI! I'm glad it was easy (I just read the april IUI thread)

I got my first "peak" on my CBEFM today, so I have my IUIs scheduled for tomorrow and Thursday. I'm so excited! and nervous. I really really hope it works. If I ovulate thursday (CD14), I'll probably start testing on 10dpo, so May 4... Hopefully I can make myself wait longer, but I doubt it...

I saw my gyn today. He has decided that IVF is the right way to go. After 2 ectopics. I am starting the clomid challenge next cycle. That is if we have a bfn

I'm going to join in on this thread! I haven't ovulated yet, but it's coming up soon, probably on Saturday (CD 17) if things stay consistent. So I'll : for those of you already in the 2WW if you'll return the favor in a few days.

Aly, no need to add me to the calendar. According to FF, my period would be due to start on May 7 (11 DPO) but I'm not planning on testing. My strategy for the last two cycles has been just to wait and see. By 10 DPO I can tell I'm not pregnant based on my falling temps, anyway -- but we'll see if I can resist testing if the temps don't start dropping!

Ovulating for 24 hours?

Ovulation question here. Yesterday was so cool I felt my "ping" of ovulation. Also, I had read somewhere this cycle that Ovulation tends to happen around 4:00 in the afternoon- just one study- and sure enough after my O ping I checked the clock and it was 4:00!
We had dtd at 12:30 that day which was perfect ( I visited dh at work during lunch)
And I got a +opk yesterday. But I expected to see higher temps this mornign but they were the same. So we dtd again this morning.

So my two wonderings-
1st, once ovulation has happened and the sperm and egg have met, I know the other sprem form a protective layer around it. I often woner though if sex and ejaculation could harm conception at this point? knock it around or something?! I am pretty sure it is fine!

2nd- since I felt myself O yesterday (so cool when that happens! I also noted cool things that were happening- I was outside in nature at the time- so when our baby comes I can call it conscious conception!) but the egg lives for 24 hours, would it be yesterdays or todays sperm that it meets? I mean- are we considered ovulating for the whole 24 hours?

Don't you guys just want instant gratification? I do- I mean- I am Oing today or yesterday- so I believe my egg and dh's seed are mixing in my chambers at this moment. So I look in the mirror and I want to look pregnant already!!

Also- to Dh and to myself I have been referring to my cm as "nectar" I think that is much mre luscious than 'mucus'!

Welcome Nicole R! I'm also waiting to O, though I think it's happening today/tomorrow!!! I totally admire that you aren't going to test, that's awesome. A bunch of times since TTC I've tested knowing full well it was over, there was no chance, but somehow I just kept hanging on. It's kind of silly.

Katie34, I think we should consider ourselves ovulating the whole day/24-36-hour period. I say that because we can't really know the exact moment the egg is released, and it is viable and available for the swimmers for 12-24 hours after it is released. Also, that "ping" could be the egg beginning to break free, or the end, right? I've felt dull ovulation pain for a couple days before, so I think it may also be just when you've got one dominant follicle that's really big and swollen (before it pops).
as far as which sperm will make it to the egg, it could be either, especially if you have good quality fertile "nectar" because yesterday's sperm could be hanging out in that until today. and your question about the egg and multiple sperm, you're right. Once fertilized, the egg cannot be penetrated by another sperm. So you don't have to worry about that!
I really hope you guys were successful this cycle!

as for me, we have our first IUI this afternoon. It's really strange that we are TTC but have to keep away from each other during my fertile time, when all I want to do is drag him to bed! We have another IUI tomorrow, but I still want to dtd naturally at least once when I'm fertile just in case we do conceive, I want to imagine it may have been naturally. sorry if TMI!

Thanks- I actually wasn't worried about multiple sperm penetrating the egg (lol!) I was more wondering if once the egg and the sperm meet, if dammage could be done by either the act of sex or the pressure of the ejaculation.

Hi Biomama - I am pretty sure I O'd yesterday. I had a spike this morning. We DTD yesterday morning. So I think we're good. Keeping sticky thoughts for you today with your IUI. I don't think that's TMI - I totally understand. Whenever we're DTD during fertile time I think about the sperm meeting the egg in a very dramatic and emotional way. Kinda silly. Let's see lots of BFPs in May!!!!

Ah, the 2ww begins.
I feel really good this cycle. I had been so ewcm-y up until today. And we dtd every darn day since who knows when. All through my fertile nectar. But today, which is my last low temp day- I am medium fertilemucusy in the morning, and now early afternoon I am sticky-dry.

Is something wrong there? Shouldn't the ewcm continue? Or is it that it is juicy while I am fertile but once the egg is released it dries up? Would the ewcm from the last few days still be needed up in the womb area?

Baby dust to all!! It is 2 days past IUI and I am reading everything I can about early pregnancy signs. I have been feeling very bloated and tired today..I read it is a sign of early pregnancy but I may be over thinking and over hoping everything is a positive sign! I just really hope this is my month.

My RE prescribed prometrium to be taken (vaginally) for the first 7 days past IUI...I haven't done so yet because I read that it can make you dizzy. Has anyone had experience with it? Is it really necessary??

YES, DEFINITLY take the prometrium, just take it RIGHT before you go to bed, the first time I ever took it, I took it at 2pm and yes, got that DRUNK feeling, but then I called the Dr and he told me to take it just before bed, I had ZERO side effects when taking it then, I have also heard when taking it vaginally the side effects are usually non existant! How do you know today is your last day with a low temperature, I wonder?

Anyway, my understanding -- from reading TCOYF, FF, and my own experience -- is that cervical fluid dries up very quickly after the egg is released, so quickly that some women don't have any EW the day of ovulation (myself included). TCOYF says that the day right before ovulation is often the "peak day," or the day with the most fertile cervical fluid.

I think the fluid is created within the cervix itself, and that it doesn't actually flow upwards to enter the uterus. So I have no idea what happens to the sperm once they've entered the uterus, what medium they swim through, or how they survive!

Thanks for the response, that is helpful. I suspect today is my last low temp day cause I had a +opk yesterday, and had 4 days of ewcm up to and including yesterday, and I felt an O pang at 4pm yesterday. So I o'ed or started oing yesterday- thought my temps would be high today but they weren't, so I figured the O was still in progress. So assuming that is all true my O should be over now- also cause I went from ewcm to dry (or sticky).
So based on how things go I fugured m temp rise will confirm this tomorrow.

Cool to know the cm doesn't need to go up into the uterus. Maybe I can relax now and Enjoy the journey!

Jr.s Mom and Corkijodo I guess we all Ovulated the same day- did you all notice it was full moon time? I think that is cool.
