gestational diabetes and homebirth

Has anyone delivered at home with GD? I had it with my first DS and could not find a midwife to deliver me in CA. I took insulin and all was under control at the birth. Hospital birth was not what I wanted.

I'm told my chances are very high of having GD with next baby. I really want to try a homebirth, but am wondering if that's possible. I just don't want to have a hospital birth at all. Well, unless it's the ONLY way.

Any suggestions?

I don't have advice but I can say that I am in a similar spot. I had GD with my last pregnancy and I am due in may and I am planning a homebirth. I see a potential midwife thursday. If she won"t do it I'll do it unassisted. I wasn't on insulin, I controlled with diet but wow I didn't even think of that! well, good luck and let me know what happens

Unless it's true GD (needing insulin), I don't have issues with attending a birth with a woman with hyperglycemia.
