Patterns for Large Breasts?

I know this is a long-shot, but are there any companies or independent designers that make patterns especially for large breasted women?

I'm having horrible luck shopping. Clothes that barely fit my chest absolutely hang off me. I figured I would try sewing, but patterns seem like they are sized for a B-C cup. I can handle some adjustments to maybe get an existing pattern to a DD, but I'm wearing a 38H these days.

You're absolutely right. What you need to do is take the standard pattern and do a fba (full bust adjustment) to make any pattern work for you. If you went into plus size patterns, but weren't plus size all over you'll end up looking like you're wearing a tent.

I haven't sewn clothes for myself in awhile, but I had pretty good luck making some dresses for myself with altered patterns. I bought a book published by Threads magazine that showed how to do the adjustments. I generally used dress patterns that had bust darts already, which makes the alteration easier.

Good luck,

p.s. on a totally unrelated note, I have been wearing excellently fitting t-shirts from Nordstrom for the last couple of years...the best I've found in ages with a large enough bust but not too huge

I completely understand!

When I married 4 years ago, I weighed a HEALTHY 84-lbs and had "Bs"....

NOW...30 pounds (and NO babies) later...I have "D"S!!!!!! Almost NONE of my summer dresses fit anymore!

The only pattern line I know of that specifically works with a large bust is:
It's for large busted woman with small shoulders.

Here are some more links for Full Bust Adjustment:
