Avoiding BPA

Has anyone seen a message thread on MDC anywhere discussing BPA-free products? I need some suggestions (sppecifically, for non-valve toddler drinking cups). The Born Free cups were panned on amazon. I wish I could find just an old-fashioned stainless steel cup with a lid (no valve).

Thanks, Celeste, I'll check it out.

The Kleen Kanteen uses the Avent sippy cup tops (which include a non-spill valve).

I've had luck at camping stores for stainless cups. I haven't found any that a non-valve sippy top will fit onto though.

We really love our toddler Sigg bottles around here. Have you seen those?

I've been giving DS regular china mugs for a while instead of plastic--we have some that are corel, the kind that come with the dinner sets, they're smaller than regular mugs, and being corel pretty hard to break. I'm quite glad I have been now that our gov't here in Canada has actually issued a public warning about BPA. I've been using a stainless Kleen Kanteen for myself, and got DS a stainless Thermos bottle--they had them for sale with the lunch boxes at the local grocery store, it has a drinking straw that folds away inside a lid, no valve, and keeps drinks cold (although, unlike a regular thermos, it can't be used for hot drinks). Found it--it was a funtainer, like this only not with superman on it. He loves it, and I think a toddler could manage it easily. They have an adult version that keeps water cold that is stainless inside and out, I'd love one for myself.

Thanks for the ideas. I was eyeing up this one this morning (Thermos Foogo with a straw) but they seem sold-out everywhere. (And one is going for a crazy price on Ebay right now!!!) I didn't notice the Funtainers...could be a good alternative (although I think the Superman design is the best of the lot. Ugh on the Disney princess designs!).

The foogo looks just like the funtainers. The one we bought at the grocery store is just a generic blue pattern, kinda surfy, kinda camouflagy, but I don't see it on the website. I agree, actually, the the superman one is not bad--DS would love that I'm sure. We actually paid a little less than the online price, cause they had them on sale. The foogo doesn't hold any more than the funtainer and the dimensions are the same. Wonder why it's going for so much on ebay?

You might try the ThinkBaby sippy cup. It's been one of the favorites that we've tested. Our daughter (3.5) says "it's like sucking my thumb!"
