HELP - have to make a drum?!?!

thursday is DS's last Kindermusik class for the year and we have homework, make and bring in a drum. uhhh..... the best i can come up with is an empty margarine container but that seems kind of weak. any other ideas (DH is very handy in regards to making stuff we have just blanked on ideas)

do you have an empty oatmeal or other tall round cardbord typ container?
or a coffee can?

Balloons make nice drum skins. Cut off the neck of the balloon and stretch it over the open top of your container. Tape down all the edges.
