prenatal depression! has anyone had it? - Page 3

I think I have it too. It first hit me at about 20 weeks or so and after spending a day to myself I realized that it was more than just needing a break. Now at 32 weeks it has reappeared and I have had a tearful and agonizing day. The build up the last few weeks has been pretty aweful too.

It is nice to know that there is a real diagnosis and that I am not the only one.

Thanks to you all for posting and hugs as well.

Oh!! I am so here with you all! I haven't felt down lately, but my first tri I really did. I am soaked with anxiety and insomnia though I get really worked up about my insomnia since that was how my first PP experience all started (I didn't fall asleep after my daughter was born for 4 days...really bad ppd). So, the past five nights I have slept about 3 hours each night, regardless of what I do.
SO! I have learned that I can try my best to put the brakes on things that can lead down a bad road. I will probably start Zoloft today, and see if it will help balance out my sleep... all my natural attempts are failing me
Just gotta try whatever we can to survive the small (yet large feeling) detours through hell.
I must say though, I am freaking out about taking zoloft pregnant. Any reassurance would help ease my troubled mind!! Hang in there to anyone who feels the ugly grip of depression, you are really never alone.

My prenatal depression kicked in around 8 weeks or so, a very palpable desire to go kill myself... and the only way I really saw it for what it was is that I had the same exact feeling when I hit my second month of birthcontrol years before.

I went off birth control then, but for durring pregnancy I upped my Stjohnswort to 2 capsules or 3 a day instead of my cautious one I had been taking.

BTW no problems from St John Wort, my ds now 22 mo came out fine, mild jaundice aside. I am temporily off stJ W for the last 4 months... but expect I may need it next pregnancy.

Just a side note: since I got pretty bad and was prescribed meds, I called the mother risk hotline to ask about each medication during pregnancy. They were SO nice and helpful. Just google mother risk to find the number, and they can help you understand risks etc...

well I wanted to update this post since I was the one who started it. I had my son who was born very healthy and is doing great , he is almost a month old. My last month of carring him was great. my depression went away and I had a great delivery.
I know it has only been 3 weeks but I have had some bad days. (more good then bad). I am still taking wellbutrin and I do have more good days then bad. since I have had ppd before I know I will get better I just thought It would be sooner.
I was wondering if anyone has experienced anti-depressents after birth if it take a while for you to get back on track again?
I am going to give it another month, like I said I do have more good days then bad I just want it to go away.
I was thinking maybe I should try prozac. Maybe its time for me to switch, well any advice would help. I just want to say that my son turned out great and this time around by treating my ppd while i was pregos helped me so so much to enjoy my son after he was born.
I can't get enough of him. He only wakes up at night to feed every 3 hours and I have been sleeping great! I dont get much of it but when I do I sleep like a baby. Thanks for all the posts it helps to read sucess stories also
