Ovulation and LAM(ish) Question - One vent, two questions :)

Is it common or normal to spot a little near ovulation? For the past year or so, I have a tiny bit of brown spotting (mixed in cm) for a few days before I notice ewcm.

According to those signs, I ovulated a week late this month.

My period returned 4 months post partum, in spite of on-demand, exclusive nursing, but has been irregular. My 20 month old still nurses a lot. Could a surge in nursing delay ovulation?

I am a little nervous because AF is due, but two PG tests were definitely negative and I do really think I ovulated late. I only had sex once during the month with a condom and an Encare (but forgot to wait the full 10 minutes) so it's highly unlikely I would be pg but I still am nervous! In December I had a false positive with a digital test and spent the better part of a week really upset.

Thanks for reading

i'm in a somewhat similar situation. i can't see for sure that i've O'd this month, but i was spotting around when i should've (or rather, would've normally) O'd. if i did O then, i might be pregnant, but that was only a week ago, so i'm not going to waste tests right now.

i was actually wondering the same thing, can BFing suppress O even after your cycles have returned? i assume so, since it's often said they can be "irregular" when they return...

Oh yes... The earlier you have your first pp period, the more likely it is that you don't ovulate. While it is possible to ovulate before your first pp period, it is also possible to have your "periods" for months without ovulation. (Well, technically, I guess, it is called something else but still looks and feels the same as a regular period.) In that case you may notice signs that ovulation is approaching but it just does not quite "make it there."

I had my first "period" after dd when she was 6 months old and they have been coming somewhat regularly. She just turned 3 and I am still not ovulating. It seems that just about anything is possible. I am not aware of anything other than nursing that would cause this. Our dd was conceived the first month we tried.

Yes, BFing can scare away your O. And both spotting and EWCM patches are very common in anovulatory cycles. If the tests come back negative, I would put my money on an anov. cycle or a very delayed O.
