Fleece for nappies - Help!

Hi out there,

I am brand new to nappy making, but I am planning quite a lot , now I want to start making trainers for my daughter. I want to use fleece for the waterproof layer, but I don´t know which to use. I have quite a lot fleece from sewing and a couple of fleece blankets.

Any ideas anyone?

anything other than Malden Mills fleece should hv 2 layers. i believe only windpro fleece can be single layer.

Fleece is not entirely waterproof but i will say its water resistant, its subject to compression wicking so if you put on a pair of shorts on your DD's training pants, if she is soaked to the gills, it will wick on her clothing but i very very rarely get this. its damp to touch but will not wick.

i am in canada so i cant tell which fleece is available in US but i use 2 layers of northern lights fleece with no issue.

oh btw, maybe other members can chime in on this but I find that with fleece, it will not have this "water resistant" effect till its washed. so i make trainers for DD, toss it in the washing machine then she wears them. i dont think fleece shrinks, at least mine never did.

thanks. I forgot to mention that I am writing from germany, I don´t even know what malden fleece is...

But I understand that it´s quite "safe" to just use two layers. That should do it, right? It´s just for trainers anyway, she is not supposed to get soaked.

lol, i am in canada and i've never seen malden mills fleece here, i suppose its only available in the US or buy it online.

2 layers will be fine.

Triniity, I wish that you were closer! I live in the US (Idaho) and I have a whole bunch of fleece scraps I could give you! Out of curiosity...what size does one need to make a diaper out of. Perhaps mine aren't big enough anyway?
