Crochet Fairy Wings?

Hi mamas,
My boys really want some fairy wings. I have no wire or pantyhose, but I do have LOTS of yarn. I was wondering if any of you have an idea for crocheting fairy wings or wings in general? Or perhaps a child's shawl that can be modified into wings?

Thanks,

Welll . . . only the part of the pattern is for crochet. The part that keeps the wings on the kiddo and attaches them one to another. The actual wings are knit.

Boho Baby Knits has a pattern for wings that look to fasten at the back and the wrists and flap around like a butterfly. I don't know what makes a good lacy crochet stitch, but that could be worth a try.
You could make some amazing and inspirational wings with scrumbling, if you were that way inclined

The link I posted is for this same pattern - wish I'd found it before I bought the book! LOL!

Dear Honeybunmom & Flapjack,
Thank you both. I guess, great minds think alike.

I've actually recently looked at this pattern, as well, and that is how I got the idea. However, I have some confusion about where the "pattern" is exactly, as I'm not familiar with following charts. I'm the kind agal that needs thing written out.

By the way...what is "scrumbling"?

Thanks,
Lovesprout

Weeellll, I have no clue, either. I'll probably attempt to write it out from the chart when I get to it (and I must since I bought the yarn!). Sorry, I don't know what "scrumbling" is either.

Scrumbling is free-form crochet. I love the look of it, myself, it's one of the reasons I taught myself to crochet. I do think it would make the most amazingly beautiful fairy wings.
