We have two dogs and two cats and tend to get a lot of pet hair in our laundry. My MIL says I should start using dryer sheets, but of course I'm not really into the chemicals or the waste... is there an earth-friendly and natural alternative? TIA!

IMO dryer sheets don't do anything to cut down pet hair. One of these days I'm planning on trying dryer balls, but in the meantime I'll keep working through my Costco sized box of dryer sheets that I bought forever ago and rarely use.

I'm not sure the pet hair would be removed by the dryer sheets either. I haven't tried it yet, but if you're trying to cut down on static, I've heard balling up aluminum foil is supposed to work.
Haven't tried it myself because my basement is fairly humid. I'm also using up my dryer sheets for now.

I've never heard that dryer sheets would do anything for the pet hair. We have 2 long haired cats and 1 dog and most of the pet hair comes out in the washing machine, the rest in the lint trap.
I use Charlie's Soap and have mostly no need for anything in the dryer (I just started using the nubby dryer balls).

We have 3 cats and a dog, and TONS of pet hair issues. IMO, the only thing that helped was getting those dryer balls. We'd always used dryer sheets before and they never did anything. They really work well for their purpose. Pet hair will ALWAYS be a problem.
Oh, DH wanted me to mention (he does the laundry
) that he vacuums out the lint system at least every 2 weeks, and that's helped more than anything.

I bought this and am mostly happy with it. I always lose the little pillows they included, but I just spray a washcloth. It helps with most of the static. We just got a puppy so I don't know about the pet hair, it's not been an issue yet.

I use static eliminator reusable dryer sheets. They are pricey but they knock out the static and the pet hair.
