It also had absolutely no effect on my school performance (which had always been poor, since I was never interested in anything we did in school and made no effort to participate).
Man, that stinks! You would probably done great in an unschooling environment.

My older dd was dx'd with ADD (Inattentive type) and was put on ritalin.
She had a heart murmur when she was little and outgrew it and we have a family history of heart defects.

My dd could not stay on the meds because it made her heart race and her blood pressure was too high.

My son is on them though and they do monitor his heart (blood pressure) and I believe an EKG when he first started.

I wonder though if the stimulants cause or exacerbate heart problems. KWIM?
