Confused.

How often do people get a false neg with these sticks??

Should I be expecting my period to be back on schedule only two cycles in, four months after giving birth??

I feel crampy, but also have that stupid giddy feeling that goes along with the first few weeks before sickness kicks in!! I know that is in no way scientific, but I feel pg, maybe something isn't quite right? Stuck in tube or someway not attached right so won't result in pg, but delaying period, but I thought anything that would delay my cycle, would show positive on pg test?

I am somewhere between dazed and confused, help?

Sorry if posted in wrong place, but I don't really know where I belong right now .

If conception and implantation have occurred then the hormones the test is measuring will overtime increase until they are detected by the test, regardless of whether it's ectopic (stuck in the fallopian tubes) or implanted in the uterus. You can have a chemical or missed pregnancy, where the test shows up positive but then later shows up negative, because there was no implantation, etc. But that's not the same as a false negative.

The test is measuring for hormones that are present from pregnancy, but it takes time for those hormones to be strong enough to show up on a test.

A false negative, especially soon after conception, is very possible and quite common. Many tests will be sensitive enough to show the hormone around 10 days after ovulation/conception. Some a little earlier even. But several things can impact a test registering with a false negative:

1. Diluted urine (so if you drink a lot of water, for instance, the urine may not be concentrated enough for the test to register the hormone).
2. Testing too soon (so wait a few days and test again).
3. Testing late in the day (first morning urine typically has the highest concentration of the hormone, since it's built up overnight. If you test later in the day, then the urine is likely to be smaller quantity and more diluted).

When you get your period back PP depends on a lot of different things, honestly, and is different for everyone, regardless of EBFing, etc. Some women get their periods back after just a few weeks. Some don't for a year or longer.

And a delayed period is affected by many things, including PP hormones, BFing, or lack of ovulation. Stress does not delay a period. It can delay ovulation, which in turn delays your period, though.

But no matter the cause of your period being delayed, pregnancy tests only look for the hormone created by pregnancy. That hormone isn't present without it in other cases (unless you're taking a very specific fertility drug, were very recently pregnant, etc.). Typically it doesn't show up on a test until you're conceived and the hormones have had time to build up enough to be detected.

Hope that helps and you get the answer you're looking for!
