RAST values???

Anyone have a resource of where RAST values are explained or described?

How accurate is RAST?

Is it REALLY possible to outgrow a peanut allergy? I had an accidental ingestion two years ago that landed me in the emergency room (swelling lips, difficulty breathing, diarrhea, vomiting)...and now...they say I'm now longer allergic to peanuts. I really don't trust that (the skin and RAST test)...

Yes it is possible to outgrow.
Can you ask your doctor for an in-office challenge? This can usually be done at the hospital your doctor is affiliated with. Gradually increasing amounts of peanut are introduced over time and you are observed for a reaction.

How exciting!

So, anyone know what 0.35 means then? or the classes--and what values go to the classes for the RAST?

Usually .35 or below would be considered a "negative".

Thanks for posting this question- I was curious myself. I just requested a copy of DD's RAST, and it shows <.35 for everything, except peanuts which was 0.45. That makes me feel better, because she was just barely over the line there, so maybe she will be able to eat peanuts someday.

I found this website that helps explain RAST values too.
