Nature/animal programs for 4yo?

Hi all - just looking for suggestions on nature/animal/wildlife type programs for my son who is 4. He looooves animals (and TV!) so I thought I'd see if I could find some programs for him. We don't have cable, so we'd be looking for stuff at the library or online. Any suggestions/favs?

Thanks!

....I'm guessing you guys already watch It's a Big World on PBS???
Otherwise, my DD has a Junior Visual Dictionary that she loves.

The best show for his age animal lovers is Zoboomafoo. It is a PBS show but I think it's on cable or on demand now.

Big, Big World - we haven't seen that actually - we're in Canada and it's not shown on CBC from what I understand. I just checked our library website and they have it though so I'll check it out from there! Funny though we were just there this afternoon looking through the DVDs and I didn't even notice it! I'll also check out the dictionary, thanks!

We tried a Zoboomafoo DVD a few months ago but he didn't really get into it, which I was surprised about. They are hard to get at the library because they are so popular! I'm going to try again - I've just put a hold on one so it doesn't go before I get there!

Thanks!

I've been disappointed in the kid-oriented nature stuff. My nature loving 5 y/o DS1 and I have found some clips on YouTube (a friend suggested searching for Attenborough to find nature show clips). Great for a kid's attention span, but without dumbing down the content. We also found a show on PBS that we loved, it was a 1/2 hour Nat'l Geographic (I think) show that surveyed several topics. I can't remember the show title now.

At any rate, I'd highly recommend PBS nature shows - I grew up on National Geographic and Nova and they really fed my love of nature (well, paired with lots of playing outside and camping and such!).

Depending on his attention span, We LOVE LOVE LOVE the bbc "planet earth" series. It's pretty complex. but the images are are real, and the photography is so unbelievably amazingly beautiful, that we found it really easy to sit through it again and again with ds as he watched.

It's genuinely the most beautiful film I've ever seen, and each dvd has a separate theme, like oceans, savanah, jungles, etc.

The magic school bus also has some cool videos on different topics like bees, etc.
