Knitting with two circs

Thread Starter
When knitting with two circs I do fine if the main part of what I am knitting has already been knit, i.e. doing legs on a pair of longies the stitches are tight enough. But when I try to do a small diameter project from scratch the stitches are so loose. Is there a special trick to help get the stitches to tighten? I try to knit the first stitch on the needle tight. I am just having a hard time with it.

Subscribing to see if you get any responses. I can't do two circs for the life of me so I just do dpn's. I get a gap between the needles and it looks bad, but I can do just fine with my dpn's.

Have you tried magic loop instead? I've never used two circs but I love magic looping! I've never had a laddering issue with it!

Try snugging up the 2nd stitch on each needle--this works for laddering on DPNs, too.

Another thing that helps prevent this is to periodically knit past the end of the needle(also works with DPNs) so that the dividing point between the needles changes.

Small ladders will usually even out after washing and blocking :-)

I just tighten the first two and last two stitches on each needle. Honestly, washing and letting them dry evens stuff out well, and I'm not a perfectionist. And I knit tightly.
