my period started?!?

26 days after Emmett was born, I've started bleeding. The post-birth bleeding pretty much tapered off after the first week, but then today, red blood started up. It's not a ton, and it's not clotted or anything weird...it's like having my period. I breastfeed exclusively (and he wants to nurse a lot...every 1-3 hours during the day, and every 3-4 hours at night). I don't have any other symptoms or pains...has anyone else experienced this?!?

Honestly, I'm at almost 5 weeks pp and still bleed or have blood-stained discharge every now and again, so...

After my DD up to 6 or 7 weeks pp I would occassionally bleed. It was like my body telling me I had done to much and needed to rest. I didn't get my period until later.

It's normally just considered postpartum bleeding until 8 weeks. Like other have said, it's possible you overdid it a bit and the bleeding restarted. I'd recommend a good, long rest.

with all 3 of my previous pregnancies i have started my period by 6 weeks pp. i also have always exclusively breastfed. I think i am just super fertile though.

There is also something called the 6 week bleed which looks like a visit from AF, but isn't really. Many women will bleed at 6 weeks then not again for months. If it's just been a few days since bleeding it's also very possible it's a sign you've been doing too much.

apparently we're very fertile people, so I was worried that even with nonstop breast feeding, it had returned! After 2 days it has tapered off, so maybe it was just a continuation of the post-birth bleeding. Still, dh is a little nervous...luckily, our little one doesn't really give us "alone time" so we don't have to worry about having kids 10 months apart.

Last time around I stopped bleeding pretty early on but started again around 6 weeks. I thought it was a period but I never bled again until 14 months later.
