I got my package over the weekend, and everything is so adorable! I've never even heard of "transitional cotton" and I thought that was the coolest idea, to support farmers as they make the transition to organic . And omg, the hat and the longies (they're longies, right?) ... SO STINKIN' CUTE!!! Love, love, love them! Can't wait to see my little babe with those on .

Now, could you just educate me on caring for the wool ... I'm a newbie to that . Can I just wash the hat like anything else? Or does it need special care? And do I need to lanolize the longies?

Thank you!

Sorry, just now seeing this and I am so so so so sorry that the package was so late. I totally thought dh mailed it when I was on bedrest and then I found out he hadn't and it took me awhile to get there myself. I thought you would like the transitional cotton. I had to get myself some, too. I love the Peas on Earth one. Ummm....let me get back to you on the longies. They are 100% wool. I have never used them with cloth diapering before, so I'm not sure. I can post in yarn crafts or maybe diapering to find out and then let you know. I'm glad you like them.

Ah, don't worry about it. I can post in the diapering forum if I want to use them with a diaper (not sure if I will or not). How do you care for the wool normally, then? Just hand wash in Woolite? Thanks!

I hope it's okay to barge in here--I saw seren's post over in arts and crafts. If you want to use the longies for cloth diapers, you will need to lanolize them, which is really easy. I just melt a bit of lansinoh (like an inch sqeezed out of the tube) in hot water and work that in to the crotch and seat area of the longies. For washing, you don't want to use woolite on longies for cd's; it will break down the natural lanolin in the wool which is what makes them work. It would be better to use a no-rinse wool wash like eucalan, which keeps the lanolin in the wool. If you wash with a no-rinse wash, you only need to lanolize every couple of weeks or so.
