What will you do with your Stimulus Check - Page 2

Well DH needs new contacts, so he needs to go to the eye doctor. We were talking about buying bikes for us to ride around, nothing spendy just cruisers, helmets, and a seat for DD. I should go get a filling on my tooth. I really think we will spend some at Costco stocking up on dry goods. That's about it, I wish I could say taking out a credit card or something, but for me the first thing it goes to is family needs(food, glasses for DH, and then maybe the bikes). IF I had my way it would all go to an emergency fund, but IDK if that can happen. We'll see...

Like the poster right above me, we might be using some of it for new glasses and to fix our bicycle so that DH can bike to work to offset some of these ridiculous gas costs.

The rest of it will go into savings!

Spending it at Lowes for home building supplies.

Initially it will go to savings but we'll end up spending it in a couple months. We just bought a house and there are a couple pieces of furniture I'm looking for.

INto our ING account to build on our Emergency Fund. NOt terribly exciting, but definitely terribly practical, and its nice to see it jump by 1200$ all at once. And its nice to know we'll have qualified for even more come 2008 tax time, so we'll get a 2nd chunk then for the DC in the belly.

We had a HUGE tax bill this year so our check is going right into our savings account to put back some of what we had to pay out.

We thought about just writing a letter to the IRS telling them to just keep it and we'd call it even.

I wanted to stick it in our emergency fund, but then my computer died and I had to get a new one. So it will go to pay off the bill for my new MacBook Pro and we'll pay the payment we would have been making into the emergency fund.

It would be boring if the computer wasn't so dead sexy.

We'll be using it to make repairs on our VW van.

My Westy will live again!

Into the emergency fund. Will not be spending any of it. We're worried about layoffs here.

$200 for a radiator for DH's truck, the remaining $700 will go in savings.

Roughly $300 will go toward my online class this fall; the rest will go into savings.

I have been thinking about what to do with it for a while. The only thing I actually plan on buying is a deep freezer and doing some food storage. The rest I need to decide between paying off some credit debt or paying off Ds's braces which just created a new bill plus I have Dd's kindy tuition for this fall I could pay off also. It will probably mostly go to debt though. But between the two it makes an extra bill of $211 a month it would be nice not to have that come this fall. I we do have a nice EF(about $3,000) but it would just kill me to dip into it for something. I know Dave says $1,000 is fine but for a family of five I don't feel comfortable with just that. Ugh, need to sleep on it.

We should be getting $1800, all of it will go towards paying for future expenses.

About $700 will go to paying DD2's 2008-9 preschool tution. We get a 10% discount for paying in full before the school year starts.

The rest ($1100 or so) will be used to purchase propane for the 2008-9 heating season. We can lock in low rates by prepurchasing in the summer.

I wish I could justify doing something fun with it, but since I'm transitioning to be a SAHM it goes right into the EF. We might do once nice dinner out though since life's been pretty boring around here while we've been saving up...

DH is using it to buy a pistol. It's his father's day gift a little early.

EF for sure. Does anyone think this is really going to help the economy? It seems like everyone I talk to is talking about either not spending it (saving) or putting it towards necessities. It doesn't seem like anyone is going to do frivolous spending like the gov seems to want us to do. Or am I just being paranoid? Sorry for hijacking, but I'm really interested in other's thoughts.

I'm single, so I get $600. Will all go into savings, to begin to rebuild my EF.

Well, run right to Best Buy and get an LCD TV and a Digital Camera of course.

Just kidding.

We are saving it (decided when we first heard about it not to spend it even though we already have a lot of savings) but I'll admit I bought season tickets to the opera today for next season (50% off to people in their 20s and 30s). Since that $400 would usually go into savings for the month, I suppose I could say that is stimulus $$ in a way. Just being honest. OTH, we had always planned to start attending the opera again regularly once our son was older and it was easier to get away for the evening. And we likely would have done it w/o the stimulus check.

It's going into savings. We have been looking for acreage for about a year now and it will help with our down payment (whenever we find the right place...).

Savings here, too.
