what were the first words you said the moment your babe was born?

Here's my prediction: "It's a X!" and then... "One down, one to go!"

A conversation with nurse she was explaining why she took the course of action she did, I responded, "I understand. It's okay."

"oh my god that sucked"
yup that was the first thing i said after she was born and placed in my arms.

I said "you have the most wonderful father in the world" to her - I know, totally cheesy but I swear unplanned. He was just a great labor support and I was all glowy.

I really don't recall with Elise, with Gigi I was doped up from my C and I said, "she doesn't look anything like her sister!" And she still doesn't LOL

I think I asked if he was ok and then I told hubby that I knew the baby would have his big head

I scooped Raina up just before she hit the floor and said, "Hello, Baby!"

I'm not really sure... I was so tired that some of my memories are fuzzy. But I think it was "ok." We were going to wait to cut the cord until it stop pulsating, but the midwife said that the baby needed oxygen and told DH to cut it immediately. He looked at me for permission, and I think I just said "ok."

I am not sure, but I think it was "I had a baby!" Then when they handed him to me, I said, "Is he still a boy?"

I don't really recall but I think it was "MY BABY" (as if it was someone elses) LOL

I said "Oh My GOD! That's much better!" and it WAS! Funny how instantaneously you feel BETTER!

Lurking from the September DDC and I just have to say I LOVE THIS THREAD.

Yay mamas with their babies on the OUTSIDE!

DH said, "It's a boy!" and I said, "Donovan has a little brother." Which was a truly astonishing bit of syntactic gymnastics for me at the moment, after ~24 hours of active labor with 2.5 hours pushing, then going for a c-section, getting a spinal, and then a shot of demerol after I got massive tremors from the spinal. I really couldn't believe I got out that many words at the time.

With DS, after a horrible long pain med free labor followed by c-s i think i said "WOW, he's sooo cute!". And i know i sound biased but seriously, he was an especially cute baby right from the start with blueberry eyes that he still has and a full head of hair and olive skin. I couldn't hold him but DH introduced him to me.

With this one i think i actually plan to tell her "You were worth the wait" because this is the most frustrating time of my life and i've had anger/resentment towards the baby...but i think that we will make up quickly.

I think it was "Hi buddy!" and then, "oh my god I feel better!"

both dh and I said at the same time, incredulously, "It's a girl??"
We were so shocked it wasn't a boy!

I'll have to go back and watch the video, but I think it was something like "oh god, shes out. thank god!" That time between when her head came out and I was waiting for that next ctx to push out her body felt like an eternity. So when it finally came, it was such relief. I know I held her for awhile before I asked "is she actualy a girl?" And my MW said, "I dont know, take a look" LOL

i have no idea what my first words were. I spent a lot of the pushing period begging everyone to just vacuum that damn kid out already.

I do know what my first thoughts were; blue and conehead.

My dh apparently had similar thoughts. He was pretty shocked by the head shape and the baby's colouring. I know he asked the midwives if Izzy was supposed to look like that.

I believe it was something along the lines of 'hey baby! it's a boy! oh my beautiful, beautiful boy!'
