Too close to home.

It would have been great, if it just been any other week, kwim?
I am so sorry for your MIL. My thoughts are with you.

About the ep-

WOW! What a shocker! I loved this ep. So many different angles. 13's mom had huntingtons, and she had been putting off getting checked for it. But now we know she has it too.

I think this may be the last straw for Wilson. I wouldn't be surprised if he left the hospital. The love of his life dies because of House's selfishness. I am SOOOOO glad they didn't have an affair. And I love how they evolved the Amber character.

My DH hates this show. He says its the same show every week. Meaning- House and cottages (little houses) get a case, they do tests and try things, the patient gets worse, the patient is on the verge of death, House finds the answer, but the remedy could kill the patient, and House says something like, "You're gonna die anyway," or "would you rather die now or two weeks from now." or some variation of that, the patient gets the treatment and lives because of House's treatment. So yes, in this sense, all eps are the same.

But I LOVE LOVE LOVE the characters. Yes they have the same formula, but the interplay between the main characters is what makes me come back. Its like magic 3's. There's House, Wilson, Cuddy (3) and Chase, Foreman and Cameron (3) and now 13, talbot and cutner (3) within each of these triangles there is interplay, and also amongst all 9 of them. I think they took a huge risk with dispersing chase, cameron and foreman and bringing in 3 new characters, but it TOTALLY worked.

I believe that House's Head and Wilson's Heart were the best eps I've seen. And if Robert Sean Leonard doesn't get an emmy nom. for supporting actor, heads are gonna roll!

I watched this for the first time last night, and definitely can see the appeal.

That one woman is known as 13? huh?

I'm still trying to figure out how the accident made Amber more susceptible to drug poisoning. And does anyone else think it was cruel to bring her back to consciousness just to tell her she's about to die?

It was the kidney damage I think. If she'd had normal kidney function they would have dealt with the drugs.

I didn't think it was cruel- Cuddy was right- it's what she would have wanted- to know and analyze what happened and say goodbye to wilson.

She's called 13, because House numbered all the candidates for the job to be his 'assistant' since he didn't want to remember their names. Hers just stuck.

I thought it was horribly cruel and selfish. I told DH to never to that to me ever ever.

OMG, House! Wilson! CTB! Noooooooooooo!

I am still in shock. Anne Dudek and RSL acted the shit out of that ep.

Things that blew my mind:

1. the bartender seeing CTB's arm around House and thinking they were a couple -- it was just because he left his cane and was drunk and couldn't walk without help! And then Wilson totally believed the bartender!

2. Kutner, in the end, eating cereal at home in front of the TV -- the way he was holding his spoon made me see him as a little boy, a lonely little 6yo whose parents were killed. He seemed so alone and young.

3. Wilson, seeing that House was awake and alive, and then just leaving. And then the note on his bed. :sob:

Hell of a way to end the season!

I found it deeply disturbing - it's still creeping me out today. I told dh never ever do that to me either! But dh told me we would want a chance to say goodbye like that. I hope we never are in that position cause I don't think I could do that for him. I guess what bothers me is that she was conscious being kept alive on the machines and then they shut them off. I dunno, they don't really do that do they? Or did I misunderstand? I mean, we couldn't shut the machines off Shivo without a court case, how can they just shut off machines to a woman who is conscious?

I don't think that it's possible to bring someone out of a coma like that when their body is not functioning at all.

I think it's just creative license.

All she had was brain function, the rest of her organs were shutting down, and she wasn't a candidate for donation due to the fact that all of her other organs were shutting down/severely damaged. Her heart was only functioning due to being on bypass, and I don't know how long a person can survive on continuous bypass...? So it seems like she would have died a slow and horrible death no matter what.

Or it could just be creative license

My guess is that, as a dr she had a pretty specific living will type of thing. Otherwise Wilson never would have had authority for any of that. that was my thought anyway.

Yes, people really do that. The Shivo case became a case because her parents moved to keep her husband from turning off the machines and because Governor Bush picked up the issue. And because it was a juicy news story.

I don't know how often this happens in real life, but my guess is that it's fairly frequent that family members turn off the machine and let their relatives die. Amber didn't voice any objections to being taken off the machines.

Great question!

Who knows, maybe Amber's parents will show up next season and sue House or Wilson for taking her off life support.

Anyone think the evil cop that got House in jail last season will come back?

Yeah that.

I cried and cried and cried. So sad.

Although I was trying so hard to be in the moment and suspend my disbelief, I was just thinking: "where oh where are this girl's parents/siblings/other family/etc???"

Word! The way he held his spoon was so... perfect. NICE touch.

Totally. I thought that too about the spoon. Very interesting about his parents. I also loved the scene with Talbot. This ep really brought out a lot of nuances.

She was in organ failure- meaning her organs were destroyed. the only thing keeping her alive was the bypass. She knew as soon as wilson told her what was going to happen. That is another reason to wake her up- to let her make her own choice. I thought it was awesome.

I thought it was a great episode. Well acted all the way around. Looking forward to more next season, but will somehow miss CTB more than if she had just left the show when she was fired.

OMG, I just watched both episodes in a row. The end killed me when Wilson found he note I think Amber would have wanted him to wake her to say goodbye, Cuddy was right. I missed how Kutner held the spoon though. And who was Taub getting into bed with and holding? I thought he was divorced?
