CHEAP birth announcements anywhere?

Thread Starter
i don't have a color printer, so doing them myself is kinda out of the question at home currently, but I've been checking around at different places and they are CRAZY expensive!!!

so....what are you doing for announcements for people?
(I'm so tempted to just skip this, but we have a large family to notify and not all do email)

I've been playing with doing some. If you like I can do you up one that you can email like a picture or take to a place like CVS or walmart and use those machine to print them out. Normally like .19 - .25 cents each. They would look like little 4x6 picture announcements..

PM me if you are interested!! I would love to do them for you!!

I am making my own, but i only have about 20 to do. Where we live(and i where I work) we have a sony printstation or imagestation and you upload your pictures off of your camera card and then you can put it in an announcement. Ours are 29 or 39 cents each I think and you get an envelope with them. You can add text and stuff with it and you can add ribbon or bling to it before you ail it out too.
I work in a scrapbooking store called archivers, so maybe check if you have one in your area.

try Kinko's

we designed our own wedding invites/programs at home, took them there on disk and got them all printed for like $20. (and that was about 300 total)

how much it costs depends on the card stock you buy.

We did (and plan to do again) photocards from Snapfish. It's easy and fast and I think it was .50 or so per card. It depends on the quantity you order.

Costco has pretty good prices, you get 50 for $16 then you can get another set of 50 for $6 if you want that many.

I always did photo card thingies from walgreens or BJ's. This time someone is supposed to be making some for me on photoshop.

I'm making mine this time, but used Sam's club last time. They were very inexpensive.

Honestly....the $1 Shop. I do not know if they have them around where you live but down here we have a lot of them. It is the store where everything is one dollar. They typically always have cute stuff like that for really cheap......a dollar as a matter of fact...hehe
The only bad thing about them is that they are not an organized store...meaning they do not know what they are going to get before they get it, and they can not guarantee getting more. Basically they put out whatever they are sent. So if they are available.....then get more than you need so that you do not end up not having enough and them not getting anymore in.

For instance we have two of these shops here in town and they do not always have the same things.

But that is my advice. I typically do all of my party paper needs (plates, cups, invites, thank-yous, place cards, ect) at the $1 Shop....WAY cheaper than Halmark and even walmart!!! And for me that is important since I am always throwing parties. I actually just go in there frequently and stock up on stuff so I have things on hand for impromptu parties or if I can not get into town to the store. I have a drawer full of specialty paper (invites, thank yous, envelopes, place cards, ect) and a small dresser full of decorative napkins, place mats, and table clothes.

I am a $ 1 Shop junkie...hehe

Although I can not say that I save money by shopping there.....because I tend to just buy more! So either way I spend a ton of money.....hehe. But atleast I get more for my money too....

I made my own, it's pretty easy if you have some Photoshop skills and a paper trimmer.

I made mine before DD was born, and she was a surprise so I used green, had space for name, date all that good stuff, and photo. I designed them to fit a business sized envelope, which also meant that 3 fit on an 8x10 page. So I uploaded to Snapfish or one of those sites, and printed 8x10s. When they arrived a couple days later, I cut them apart with the paper trimmer.

I'm doing VistaPrint postcards, that way I don't need a separate envelope. The front side will be a pictures with a name, and then the back left side will be stats, with room to write address on the right. It is the cheapest and easiest of anything I've looked into and liked. Did way more complicated things for my other boys, and it always took me so long to get them out.

I did and will do again the announcements from Kodak Gallery online. It's really easy and you can work on the design now and just upload the picture and details once baby is born. Kodak always seems to be running some sort of discount/special too. I was pleased with how they turned out.

For DD I had my mom add some text and a border to a cute picture. I then printed it off on snapfish for .12 per copy. Very cheap and they looked great!
