Water breaking and increased pain? - Page 2

I had AROM with my second baby at about 4 cms. Labor was already seeming fast and intense and it just made things ten times more intense and painful! I went from "handling it ok" to feeling totally out of control. If I could go back in time...

My third birth it was the water breaking that started off active labor (almost 12 hours). Less intense (until transistion hit!), the labor was longer than my second labor but I didn't have that panicky out of control feeling, even during transition.

My fourth baby was born in the caul. The labor was fast and intense though (well about 5-6 hours active) but still manageable, I recall transition not being quite so bad as with my third, but I still said things like "I need a break!"

I dunno. For both my labors, water broke at the onset (right before contrax started). The first labor was horrendously painful. Second was very manageable till about the last half an hour.

I don't know what it's like to labor with intact waters, though!

I am PRAYING that my water doesn't break early on in this labor. My water was broken about 4 hours into my labor with DD and until then it was VERY managable, but after that, it was HORRRID. Seriously.

For me, labor didn't hurt until the OB broke my water without telling me. That was also about the time I started to panic... if he would do that without telling me, then what else? so I'm sure that increased the pain as well. Oh, according to him, I was 7cm at the time.

My waters broke about 15 hours before my first contraction. This being my first birth I have nothing to compare it to - the pain was intense, but managable.. after 6 cm I was hardly aware of the pain - I guess those endorphins did their thing! DS was out 24.5 hours after my waters broke

Mine were pretty much the same, pain-wise. I had my 1st w/ SROM at the onset, her birth was almost 28 hours later. My 2nd, less than 4 hours of labor and my water broke when she crowned. I noticed zero difference.

I've had two dry births where the waters broke some hours before birth, one where the waters were broken by the midwife towards the end of the first stage, one where the waters broke spontaneously literally seconds before birth and one born in the caul. Frankly, my first dry birth- my 24 weeker- hurt so badly I was screaming even with a huge dose of pethidine in my system, though I was fighting labour anyway- and my second, DS3, hurt so much I couldn't lift my feet in labour. So- yeah. IMO, ROM=PAIN.
