False labor for 2 hours in no fun...

at all! I woke up at 3 am with a contraction, then had 3 more in the next 30 min. For the 2 hours I had belly tightening and a LOT of pain on and off. I couldn't sleep or get comfortable and I had to keep breathing slow and deep so I wouldn't scream. My back was killing me too. The baby was moving around a lot. DH snored through the whole thing he had no clue what was going on. Finally around 5:00 it went away and I was able to sleep for a bit. Of course DH had a meeting this morning so he couldn't let me sleep in. I'm still tight and crampy this morning but no more contractions.

I'm on the verge of 36 weeks so I'm happy that nothing seems to have come of it, this baby needs to stay in for a couple more weeks to make me happy BUT I don't want to go through that again unless it's for real.

Guess I should go pack my bag just in case....

Oh Amy... sorry you had such a crappy night. I bet you are exhausted today!

Can a woman go into real labor without ever having had false labor? I will be 40 weeks on Friday and have never experienced anything like what you are describing...

I am tired but the nice thing is that my 5 yr old slept at Grandma's last night and she's taking him to preschool, so I only have my 2 year old this morning. He has an hour of therapy in a bit and I can just sit for that - so it's not too bad!

I didn't have this with my first, when I felt like this with him it was the real thing!

. That sucks. Glad things calmed down, and I hope you're able to get some rest today... or at least tonight.

Sounds crappy! Glad that it seems to have passed uneventfully. Take it easy!

I have had the same thing happen to me a ffew times now but fortunately, not in the middle f the night! My mw says this is great and will make labor easier. She'd better be right!

Me, too!

I went to bed at 11 when I was having contractions 10 minutes apart that took my breath away. I woke up at 3 when they became painful and were 7 minutes apart. By 4, they were 6 minutes apart and really painful. By 5, they were no longer painful so I went back to bed. I am due in two days so I was really thinking that might be it! But nope.

Yikes. Oh yes, mama, pack that bag!!

Why does this stuff always seem to happen at night too -- why not during the day so mama can at least get some sleep at night?!?

Hopefully the next time it will be the real thing.

No more contractions but I'm in constant pain. Not horrible but not mild, it's enough that I know it's there and I'm uncomfortable. Plus I have this constant tightening down way down low by my pubic bone that doesn't go away. The pressure isn't too bad and no bloody show....

Yes, the bag is almost packed. I just need to buy one more thing and find the camera. Oh...and wash the car seat liner/cushion which I'll go do now.

I hope it's the real thing next time BUT in a couple of weeks!

I went into labor with my first already tired and then labored all night - I was so exhausted by the end I was miserable. I'm really, really hoping that doesn't happen this time.

I suppose this was a rhetorical question, but anyway-- I believe oxytocin levels are higher, and the uterus is more responsive to them, at night.

You know, I was just reading the difference between "false" and "real" labor is often positioning. Maybe last night your body and baby decided it was time for your little one to get his head facing the right way?

This may help too. http://spinningbabies.com/index.php?...d=59&Itemid=51

Hopefully you can get a nap in today.

Good idea! I don't know whether the couch position will help or not, but it does take the weight off my back, which is great.

Now I'm going to take a nap. :-)

I did get a nap! My mom came over this afternoon to watch the boys.

Going to check out spinning babies now....
