I love my birth center!

I just got my 36 week packet from my birth center. Among pages and pages of LLLI handouts was a page with reasons to not circumcise, a handout on "handling the baby blues" without medication and a handout that says "Bring your baby to your bed and do it safely!" with tips on safe cosleeping.

It also says everywhere that if you're experiencing any troubles with breastfeeding to call the birth center for help before you decide to supplement.

Love this place.

Ours is incredible. I've had NO complaints. I love it so much that I wish I could pick you up and drive you out here!

And, something cool was that even when we spoke about circumcision (they're very anti-RIC), when I said we would be doing it at a bris if we had a boy, they were sooooooooo interested and curious. They had only good things to say about how "baby-centered" the Jewish bris is and loved my explanation that I don't agree with routine infant circumcision at all, and fight against it, but that it was a decision I would make for my Jewish son because for us it's a part of the covenant. They were so great about it, and asked to be invited if we had a boy.

I'm so thrilled to give birth there.

My birth center offers circs to everyone . I can't imagine why anyone would circ if they didn't have to. I just went to a bris and it broke my heart to hear the baby cry.

The birth center here is big and has many different midwives with different styles. You don't know who will be on call and how you will be treated in labor...I guess its still better than the hospital alternative.

I keep praying for a daughter, so I won't have to watch my son go through it.

It's very sad that even at a birth center, things can be so "medicalized" (for lack of a better term). I hope you get the midwife and staff you wish for.
