Am I ever supposed to stop DS from retracting himself?

My DS is 2.5 and has always "played" with his penis. lately though he's really started retracting the foreskin and he says he is "pushing it out." I am so queasy about it and I am not sure if I should just relax. It looks like it hurts but he says it doesn't. I know they will do the retraction themselves but is this too much too early? He gets it so you can definitely see the glans and the rounded base on one side of the glans.

Also, the tip of the glans around the pee hole (what's the scientific name for that anyway?) is sort of red. Probably normal, but what do you think?

Do I need to stop him from retracting it this far or just let him be (and close my eyes because it looks ouchy to me!)?

Just let him be. It is normal- including the color. It is that dark red/purple color because of blood flow (vascularisation) in that area and from being covered by the foreskin. (Lack of air drying it out.) The pee hole is called the urethral meatus. (me-ate-us). Boys always think this sort of thing is cool. From in utero until the day they die!

Don't worry about it! It's perfectly normal.

Yup totally normal. If it hurts, he'll stop or he'll come tell you.
