"Real" contractions?

Soo...even though there'll be no doubt in my mind when I have ctx well into labor like with DD that they're the "real" thing, I never had any prior to labor with her other than my dingy BH that I get all the time (and have had from the start of this one). They just feel like a tight, tense feeling and the lower half of my uterus gets hard. Well, laying in bed this morning while DD had her morning nursies, I have to wonder if I was having mild ctx?? It felt almost like gas but would ache (kinda crampy but didn't really feel like cramps) in only my lower uterus, it'd get hard, and my lower back would hurt. There was not pattern, really, but I had about 4-5 in the 30 min. or so I was laying there. They went away once I got up and started my day. But I'm really curious...

Now, as I'm dying for opinions, I probably won't even be able to check this again until tomorrow since our dumb-o DSL isn't working. :

ETA- I DO remember that I had one more after I got up and started walking around and it felt like there was a lot of pressure, like it was pushing the baby out. (but my bladder was full, too...)

could be? certainly could be pre-labor.

What you are describing I have been having for probably a month now. I get them when my son nurses but I also get them all day long and at night too. It doesn't seem to matter where/when, I just get them consistently. I don't know if it's because I have given birth recently....I don't remember having them with my other pregnancies, which were all spaced out by 6/7 years...

I just keep telling myself that my body is practicing and even though they are not painful I am training my body to completely relax and give into them when they come. I am actually very grateful that I have been having them b/c my last labor was pretty intense and I am afraid my body will tense up this time, so I'm getting lots of relaxation practice.

Also, you might be having them when you are up and about but you just don't notice them as much. Kinda like you notice the kicking/movement more when lying still then when you are making dinner or whatever.

A few weeks ago I was experiencing the same thing. For me drinking more water helped them go away. Since then I've noticed that if I'm not drinking I feel that way all over again.

I get those, usually at night and in the early morning. As I remember, real labor feels much the same, just much stronger.
