Muddy Dingoes bring May Flowers! - Page 37

morning - i decided to brave the 'unsettled' weather and ride my bike to work today. though it threatened, i didn't get rained on during the ride in. Let's home the return is as uneventful.

dh is being a big poopy-head. we haven't had this problem in a while and i hate fighting. it's so annoying. I hope he gets his head out of his arse soon.

planted 4 blueberry bushes last night. I'll try to get the garden planted this evening, depending on how things go.

Poppy - i just read an article about Lyme in Shape magazine last night. Sounds like you should watch her for fever or other signs of illness and if it does turn up seek out a doctor with experience and knowledge on Lyme disease.

Or I might try to do both if the dates align. I've never done a fall half before and I think this is the year for it.
Here's the one I was thinking of ~ http://www.indianapolismarathon.com/

And this one is new and also looks cool ~ http://monumentalmarathon.com/

Which one were you and BBM thinking of in Ohio? I'd love to run one "together", although I'm sure I'd be at the back of the Dingo Pack !!!

My run was lousy this morning. I warmed up they way I usually do, but my shins were killing me 1 km into the run and I had to walk home. Every time I tried to run my legs burned like crazy. They still sting, even after lots of stretching and a hot shower.

I've been thinking about this note taking thing in class. I have been writing all morning by hand for an assignment and my hand is KILLING me. It is cramped up and miserable. I am so used to typing everything now. At this point I am doing all of my courses via distance ed, but in a year or two I will go to school full time again - are you professors telling me I need to get my hands in shape or is it okay to take notes on a laptop during lectures? That is all I would be doing - I can't multi task unless it involves knitting

Yes, these are the thoughts running through my head on about page 32 of process recordings. I may be pretty crunchy granola in a lot of ways, but I love working on the computer! I am ambidextrous, but I don't want to freak out a professor by switching hands every few minutes during a class

Okay. Back to work. If I can have this thing in the mail by 4 I will be thrilled. If not, I have until Monday - but I really want it out of the way TODAY.

Any of you dingos really really good at organizing and wanna come take a crack at my pantry? Pretty please? With sugar on top??? Ugh. My pantry is a disaster. It's been getting progressively worse and worse, because I just keep throwing more stuff on top instead of taking time to organize and put away. So I started taking stuff out to purge and clean...only got through the stuff that was sitting on the floor before I got discouraged. I have no idea how I'm going to get all this crap back in there, and that's AFTER I decided to get ride of a couple of huge things (like the deep fryer that hasn't been used in like three years). And of course, now that I started, I have to get it finished this afternoon because I can't even put away my groceries right now. : I really wanna take a nap, but nooooo....I gotta start something that has to be finished! Somebody please help me. Please. Four shelves to go...

It's totally fine to take notes on your laptop as long as you're not surfing the net, IMing your friends, playing tetris, or looking at pron. If you're not gonna do any of those things, notetake away. If you're prepared for class, paying attention, and participate some, no one is going to care about the laptop.

So, it's ok to take actual notes? I'm going to be going back to school in a year or two, and I type much faster than I write (not to mention the hand cramping), and was thinking that a laptop for notes would be perfect. That's all right, isn't it?

But, on to important news. I GOT MY SHIRT!!!!! I totally love it, love it, love it!!!!! Poppy, thank you so much for all your hard work! Dh had to chime in on his suggestion for next year's slogan. His contribution is "Shut up and run!" Catchy, isn't it? I spent a long time laughing.

RR: I did it!!! I ran my 12 miles. I ended up opting for the jog stroller with DD. She did great. She had a shorter nap than I thought she would, but there was so much to see, I can't blame her. We saw several Great Blue Herons, an Indigo Bunting, and 3 deer! We stopped to watch the deer, and we stopped so I could water a log , and then later, so Abby could have a pit stop. Other than that, I ran pretty much the entire time. I was slower than slow, though, which helped. I averaged 12:45 pace.

And I am now, officially tapering!

Here's my question for the day. What should the few weeks after the race look like for me, running wise? Should I be taking it easy, or what? If my mileage, lately has been 25+ miles a week, where should I be after the half?

yay - people are getting their shirts!
would y'all mind to report back on how they fit? i'd just be curious to know. i ordered one for myself but haven't tried it on yet

mandy - thanks for the advice on the lyme thing. the bite looks better today but i do worry because of just how many ticks i pull off of her in the summer.

eks - the photos of your little man on flickr are so darn cute! what a bundle of love he is!

laptops for note taking is fine, really, but i have a hard time listening to all the clicking-clacking of the keys while i lecture - distracting. it's definitely what i would prefer for note taking if i was a student, so i get it. tough call.

have great weekends everybody!

I am in Dingo Shirt LOOOOVE! I tried it on right away -- glad I went with the Large, though I think I would have been OK in a medium, too. The large will just be more versatile ;-) And the ladies fit underneath without looking skanky!

I'm actually still wearing it. I love the blue -- it's a softer blue than I thought it would be and it's great with the artwork.

Mooch-a$$ grassy-a$$, Poppy!

It fits nicely! I am very glad that I got the large. I think the medium would have been too tight to comfortably run in. The large is a smidge on the big side, but I would prefer a little too big, to a little too small (so says my muffin top).

Love Love Love my Dingo shirt too! Medium fits pretty well, athough I could have done a small realistically. Love the artwork. Can't wait to run in it (tomorrow morning for my Saturday group run!)

Penelope - can I take a class from you? : Maybe it's because I am so old, but I cannot imagine paying thousands of dollars a year to go to school and surf the net during class time. : I didn;t get my project ready in time to go out with the vourier this afternoon, but it will go out on Monday morning. This way I can perfect it - although I must admit I am so tired of it that I need a bit of a break before I review the whole thing one more time. It will still be delivered to my prof three days before the deadline.

I gotta get home and get the mail!!!

I got my shirt. It fits perfectly and looks amazing. I can't wait to wear it tomorrow.

I was supposed to do my LR tomorrow but ran it instead this morning with BBM. Physically, it wasn't the best run but I really needed the talking time.

Anyone thinking of doing the USAF marathon or 1/2, I have a code for $5 of the registration fee. If you send me your email address, I can forward the email with the code to you (or remind me and I'll find it and post it here).

Anytime, babe!

Got my shirt too!!! LOVE IT, POPPY!! Thank you! The fit is a little big for me too but I figure I can use it as a top layer with something underneath.

I've started recruiting my neighbors to form a running group for the Baltimore Running Festival in October. That's when I'm doing the marathon. I've already got FIVE of them signed up for the half marathon!! There's also a relay, 5K, and kids' Fun Run that day. Our Friday happy hours start tonight and I'm taking my sign-up sheet. Wish me luck! (I'm bribing them with a pasta dinner at my house the night before the races and a block party, featuring a keg, when the running is done--who can resist, right?) We're going to make team t-shirts and non-runners are making posters and lining the race route. If it works out even close to the way I'm imagining it's going to be awesome!
