allegra?

The allergist wants my 2 yo to take allegra. I am scared to start this. We have been thru NAET w/ no help, homeopathy w/ no help and to a more natural allergist who recommened "peptide shots" which I am not prepared to give my ds. Help I am lost and scared. He says that when he itches (behind knees mostly) it's sending the body a message to keep reacting, I had never heard that one before. He's gotten blood drawn 3 times in 3 weeks...I hate this...he's so afraid of docs now, I can't blame him!!

what does a mom do?? so frustrated and burnt!!

If it's a reaction to a food, I say avoid the food. If it's environmental allergy that really can't be avoided, I say take the antihistamines. My DH has been on Allegra for about 10 years. My kids (10, 7, 3) are all on Zyrtec.

have you figured out the food?
is it eczema?
do antihistamines help the itching?

My dd (3yo) has multiple food intolerances. One is corn, which gives her eczema on her legs. But antihistamines don't do anything for it. It just ocmes when she gets into something with corn, and then goes away on it's own about a week after ingesting it. But nothing helps her except avoidance. She's on Zyrtec for seasonal allergies, and they don't affect the food intolerances one way or the other.
