So just on a whim my midwife sent me to have an ultrasound done today just to check size and such...so as the tech is doing the exam she is like oh there is his head...right below my rib!!!!!!!!!! When the F*@k did that happen? So of course I am now freaking out!!!! I cannot have a c section!!!!!!! I have to get this child to turn. Please oh please any suggestions you have please share. I am going to check on spinning babies right now and get myself upside down or something asap....I cannot believe this is happening right now!!!!!

First and foremost, try and just be as calm as possible. I know that's difficult especially when you're worried. But being calm will help! Also, keep in mind that if baby flipped one way, baby has more than enough space to flip back. Some babies flip during labor. And perhaps there is a reason baby flipped for now.

I'd check out spinningbabies.com - take a bath, light some candles, play some mellow calming music. Relax

My son flipped 3 times (those were the ones confirmed by U/S, I think he flipped more than that) in the 2 weeks leading up to his birth.

He was breech throughout pregnancy, then flipped 2 weeks before birth, then flipped again and was a footling breech. I made a c-section appointment for 4 days later, and after 2 days I went to the hospital with contractions. He had flipped yet again and was again head-down!

I don't know if this helps you, but it IS possible for babies to move around that much so late in pregnancy. My son was born at 38 wks 3 days and was 7lbs.

Good luck to you!!!

turn baby! turn!

can you get in to see a chiropracter?

I'm so sorry you are having to worry right now.

Hold on to the information that if your baby has been vertex for a great part of your pregnancy -- it is like 99.9% likely that he will flip back to vertex before birth. I have know several people who's babies flipped to breech the last week before pregnancy and then a couple of days later flipped back. I have never known anyone who's baby flipped this late in the game and stayed put.

Relax the best you can and have confidence that your baby and body know what to do.

Webster technique!
Do that inversion off Spinningbabies.com...supposed to be really good. And I would imagine that any baby who was happy enough to flip itself around at the last minute can keep on flipping (conversely, mine was firmly & happily breech for so long with NO signs of turning that the version worked well because now it is firmly & happily head down -- must be a lazy one!).

Anyway, with only a few days to go, I'm not sure how much good the chiropractor will be with the Webster technique as it usually takes ~10 adjustments to be effective. But hey, you can try anything!

Good luck!

10 times? Most women I know who tried it, the baby turned after 1 or 2 treatments.

I had Webster and while it caused lots of wiggle, I suspect both are still breech (it's hard to tell with Claire because she's so low). I have another appt tomorrow morning. I also apparently have a pubic separation that doesn't cause any pain until my chiro touches it (and then I was near tears) which might be causing it.

I'm OK with delivering them breech though.

One tip: don't do inversions if you've eaten! It will feel like you're being suffocated to death very, very slowly.

Thanks mommies.

I am just so upset about this. I am trying to keep my game face because my daughter was with me at the ultrasound and got so upset when they said er brother's head was up..when we got hme she came to me and started crying saying she didn't want anything to happen to me and she didn't want me to have a c section (she always runs out the room when those come on)

I did hands and knees today and also upside down on an ironing board with ice on his head and a warm rag by his feet...so far he still seems head up...

How long do these things take to work and how coul I not notice him flipping over? I haven't been feeling these underbelly kicks until tonight...could he have just turned? Wouldn't that have hurt quite a bit and made me realize? I feel so clueless and unattentive!

Even today at my midwife appt she picked up the heart beat down on the right...I feel like I am getting punked here...I'm just trying not to cry and hoping Ashton jumps out of the bushes soon!!!

Have you tried visualization? That was what turned my little one, but I was only 32 weeks. Before I went to bed I visualized a string tied to my baby's foot with a helium balloon attached to the other end. The balloon lifted her up and out of my pelvis and then slowly rotated her head down. That night I kept dreaming she turned and the next morning I felt different and sure enough, she had turned!

I am sure you have already tried this, but don't forget the music by your pelvic bone, flashlight, and crawling down the stairs.

I have nothing to add that spinningbabies and the other ladies haven't told you. But I wanted to send you DS1 did that exact same thing and I didn't know you could turn them back. Hence the VBAC this time.

Just get to a chiro, a swimming pool, invert yourself and try all your options.

Repeat this to your baby:
Head down
Chin tucked
Elbows in
Knees up

Sigh so I spent my morning trying to get a chiro...my midwife recommended 2...one is not answering and the other one is about $210 for the first visit and I just don't have it .

I really just want to sit and cry right now.

I did the inversion exercises yesterday and this morning before i ate...he is so comfy and happy he hasn't budged...

That's what the chiro said and what some online sources mentioned as well. But hey, lucky them to have it work after 1-2!!

Anyway, keep looking for a chiro. One should be able to get you in today or tomorrow. Look here: http://www.icpa4kids.org/locator/index.php, talk with midwives or doulas, call prenatal yoga instructors. Someone will have a recommendation for one that can get you in ASAP.

Have you checked to see if it's covered by insurance?

Well that was the issues none of them did but alas I found one that took my insurance...

I have never been to a chiro so I did not know what to expect...

They put my on some hydro bed thing then did some sacral release something and some pressure thing on my round ligament!? I don't know I just hope it works....thank you mommies...keep praying for me please...my boyfriend is just like oh no big deal just get a c section my mom had one with me and it's "safer" than trying to birth him breech

I don't think he gets it!

Sigh sigh sigh....turn turn turn!!!

So I did the chiro thing yesterday and lots of inversions last night...no budging yet...about to go back to the chiro again...

It really doesn't seem like they are doing much...push down on my back a few times and press under my belly? Is that what they are supposed to do?

I am so desperate for something to work

I am supposed to be having a birth center birth so I don't want to get transfered to the hospital at all!!!!

This little boy and I are gonna have a real stern talking to when he get out here!!!

The adjustments are minor ones -- hence the reason it could take several -- your muscles have to have time to adjust and move (not to mention, you don't want to be hurting). Just keep at it. At the very least you will feel better for having known you tried everything you could!

Good luck!

i am also doing webster and that's what my chiro does for me as welll...he also does normal adjustments to try and get my whole body in line...perhaps your chiro can do this as well...it might help with webster.

good luck...my baby is also breech and also just decided to turn breech. we are also going to have a stern talking with his little butt when he comes out...which we're hoping is not too soon since he seems to be a stubborn little bugger when it comes to getting his head down.
