Madilynn Rose arrived at 38 weeks 3 days on Sunday April 27th 2008 at 12:37pm. 7lbs 14 oz and 20 inches long. Tons of Jet black hair and blue eyes- oh and her hair has this blonde patch right in the top front! lol! HERE IS A LINK TO A POST WITH PICS!!!

The birth story info- well I woke up around 6:14 am sunday morning having painless braxton hicks contractions- or so I thought...lol! Around 9am I woke my hubby up and told him maybe we should go get check out since I tend to labor with no pain and midwife did not want me delivering on the side of the road since I was already at 5cm and would probably go pretty quick. Well we headed to L&D and I was SURE I would be coming home. Well Madilynn had other plans- she wanted to be born! I was checked around 9:45 ish or so and was contracting every 5 min....and was nearly 7cm when we arrived. I still had ZERO labor pains..no cramps..nothing. Weird. Anyhoo- they admit me...and I start walking the hall with my doula Amy (who I LOVE and HIGHLY recommend!!) I was laughing, cutting up and just being overall silly with my doula and the labor nurses- still in disbelief that our baby would be here soon. Midwife arrived and checked me-asked me if I wanted my water broke or not- it was hanging down and bulging- so I said sure- I knew it would speed labor up it always did. So around 11 am ? she broke it and I walked some more... still NO pain or cramps...and contracting every 2-3 min... weird. lol! I go back to be checked in my room and while the nurse checked me I had my first OUCH OUCH OUCH contraction...lol! I was 8 cm and doing fine. I knew I was hitting transition which is where I usually feel some cramps and pain. I decided to ask for an epidural since I was having MAJOR mental fears of a repeat broken tailbone like my last birth...I just could not relax once I felt her dropping down. So they call the drug doctor to come in and sit me up on the side of the bed where I immediatly had an incredibly overwhelming HUGE contraction- it hurt soooooo bad! Right after it let up I had a huge urge to push and I felt her coming down fast. So the drug doctor was trying to do something to help ease my pain and my fears but since I was pushing her out he could only give me a quick shot called a saddle block or something- and it only numbs you in the pelvic pushing area...not the entire stomach area...ACK! So I could feel everything except her coming out...but that was the area I was most afraid of so I guess it was better than nothing. Anyhow- the nurse had her hand under my bottom to catch her cause she was starting to crown while I was getting the shot. They thought they would be delivering her since my midwife was not there yet..she had run to church to drop off some meds to her kid or something at my insistence...lol! Anyhoo- I got the shot- laid down on my back for a sec- midwife comes running in in her very nice church attire and hops on the end of the bed- she checks me and baby is right there- she has me get on my left side- and I pushed her head out in one push and her body out in the next push..she was a compound presentation (hand/arm next to her head- my second child also did this..) no tears or anything....she said I was "sooo stretchy" ...that was funny to me- what a thing to say! The first thing she said to me was "yes- its STILL a girl"...haha! I checked between her legs myself too and was thrilled to indeed find no firehose! Madilynn immediatly pee'd all over me - the whole room was laughing.. I loved my birth and labor- it was the best one I have ever had- I know I could have birthed her with no pain meds- but my fear of a broken tailbone or the pain associated with it was just too much to overcome while in the middle of it all- so I am glad I got something even if it only numbed my butt area- and now I feel much more confident since nothing bad happened.

Oh yeah- and I would LOVE to show you some pics of her- but I dont know HOW to get them in this post??? Anyone want to add them for me?? Help!!!
