I had my weekly appointment with my midwife today and found that a woman had given birth there just a few hours before my appointment. After our visit, my midwife asked me if I'd like to see the baby if it was okay with the parents. OF COURSE I would! The baby, a little boy, was sleeping on him mother's chest and she and the dad were just hanging out in the bed- looking like nothing had happened. The mother looked tired, but not like she'd been through a major ordeal or anything. That was my first time to see a woman who had JUST given birth, and it was very comforting - she looked calm and happy. I can't wait to hold my baby- and if I feel half as good as she looked, I'll be thrilled. Seeing the baby and talking to the mama really made me feel good about my decision to go with my midwife.
