DTap + neurological damage

Hi all! I am looking for any leads I can get about a vaccine reaction that happened to my dd. Any information/ other experiences I'd love to hear about too.

Does anyone know if the neurological damage from dtap vaccines is permanent? My dd had a really bad reaction to (assuming) the "p" in the vaccine. She has the upper motor neuron signs and has lost the ability to sit, walk, balance, etc.

I was just wondering if anyone knows if this sort of damage goes away with time?

I have heard

I have heard that a craniosacrial doctor(my spelling is not correct) is suppose to be helpful, I am not sure if it is permanent or not. There was a woman on sears.com that had the same problem with the DTaP and she stated a few weeks that her child was better after seeing this type of doctor.

Sorry about your situation and hope and pray that things improve. I just finished reading Just A Little Prick by Hilary and Peter Butler. I don't have the book with me but I'm pretty sure she mentioned Vitamin A and Vitamin C being helpful in counteracting DTaP reactions.

I don't want to give incorrect information so can someone confirm this? I know many people on this forum have read this book. This forum is how I found out about the book. Take care...

How long ago was her reaction? What do the doctors say her prognosis is?

Things can definitely improve over time. Therapy (PT, OT, speech) can help. Another thing to consider is hyperbaric oxygen therapy...however it is not guaranteed to help and is extremely expensive. It did help my son regain skills though and we plan to do it again with him as soon as we can swing it financially.

My son had a reaction to his 18 month DTaP vaccine. He has come a long way since his initial injury. But he is still permanently and severely disabled. There is zero chance he will ever live an independent life. Basically brain damage is brain damage, period.

Have you filed a claim in the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program? If you haven't, you should look into it for sure. It is a long painful process but the government is paying for Jackson's care for as long as he shall live, as well as paying for the money he will never earn because he is not expected to be able to work, and also for his pain and suffering. You will need a lawyer who has specific experience in this type of case. PM me if you have questions about it.
