training pants

I need some advice on making training pants. I like these:

I would rather have a pocket design for inners. So,I can continue to use my prefolds. I have not had to much experiece with making diapers. I would like to use as many thirft store items as possiable.Any advice?

what features do you like about the one you posted?

There's this free pattern but it's a pull up.

as far as materials, for a waterproof layer, I've used fleece and children's raincoats. For the layer against dc's skin, I've used old t-shirts.
