This is about what I was going to say. It's our other standard answer, especially when our friends offer hand-me-downs. "Every baby's different, so we're just going to wait and see what this one needs" or something like that.

People seem satisfied with that. In fact, they often launch into stories along the lines of "I know! My second hated the swing!" or "So true, we've only used the stroller once." Etc.

Yes! DH and I are currently 150 miles from his parents and 550 from mine. We need more space.

That's what we've been trying. It's worked pretty well so far!

Izzy slept through the night for the first time the week I night weaned her at 12 months! She's now sleeping in a crib in her sister's room. I was ready for her to move out and she was ready to move out. But it was based on OUR family needs and not some arbitrary schedule.

My mum bought me a cot this week, but it is one that will do really well as a side car to our bed, and it converts to a toddler bed. We want the baby to be able to stay as long as they want with us, and the queen bed will start getting a bit snug once they get a bit bigger. Plus it can act as a railing so the baby can sleep on either side of me.

I like the "We'll cross that bridge when we come to it" too

Jim's Aunt insisted on buying us a travel system when I repeatedly said I didn't want one. She told me just to take it back if I didn't want it....I still wonder why she bought it in the first place! It was more of a hassle for her to buy it and haul it to our shower and then have us bring it home then haul it back to the store.... I guess it made her feel good.

It's funny that when you tell people you don't need something they automatically assume that if they buy it, you'll use it!

Yeah, at dh's store they have some really really nice ones that become a full-size bed. It is nice to have more than one bed in case someone is sick or teething or whatever.
