In the larger one, can you put anything in with a sandwich? In the wrap 'n mat, I know my friend will put a sandwich, then some pretzels or crackers on top of it. Can you do that? Does it fasten pretty securely? I really like all of her fabrics, I would just like to see real pictures of it being used. Thanks!
I'll try to get a picture of one tomorrow. I can definitely say that they are bigger than the wrap-n-mats (or, rather, that the larger size is) and will hold more than a wrap-n-mat. It fastens securely with velcro. Sometimes I wish that I could get a more air-tight seal (like that you could roll the top of the bag down and then fasten it), but I've never had trouble with anything drying out or anything. It keeps fruit very well, and veggie booty and chips, etc. don't get stale in there.

The wrap-n-mat is more like wrapping something in tinfoil, whereas the Happy Sack is more like putting something in a plastic baggy. Before we got into the whole "reusable only" thing and stopped buying tinfoil or plastic bags, I preferred to use tinfoil for sandwiches than to use plastic baggies for them. So, it feels a little weird to me to use a bag for a sandwich, but it works fine. I think that of the two options, the Happy Sack is much more versatile and kid-friendly.

I didn't realize that Wrap-n-mats were made out of PVC. I guess that explains the smell that I noticed when I opened the package. I would avoid that at all costs, though I didn't know that the PUL (is that the same as polyurethane coated nylon?) was made in China. Are the Happy Sacks themselves made in China? They were certainly made in MA (locally to me) not long ago, but is she now outsourcing them?

I'm glad they finally have the site up again. But I would love to see the sack when it's open. They don't look very big.

Also, I don't see that there was an answer to using PUL. It seems that the wnm are PEVA or PVC and the HS are the nylon. But what is the difference between those and PUL? I have some PUL around and think I might be able to make one for myself, either a sack or mat, but I don't want to use it for food if it's not safe.

Thanks

They come in two sizes. The bigger size is exactly the same size as a quart-sized plastic baggie, though it may be able to hold slightly more (because it doesn't need to be "zipped" shut). It has never seemed too small to me, and I rarely, if ever, fill it to the top. Here are a couple pictures:

If you're looking for something bigger, like a lunch bag, I'd recommend the Mimi the Sardine Lunch Bug.

Lex, thanks for the pictures. Those look great! I think I was unclear in my post regarding my dilemma between PVC and MIC PUL. Those are both the Wrap 'n Mats. They make two styles. One is made in the USA, but it is PVC (which I've only heard horrible things about). The other is PUL, but made in China. Although they do say "responsibly made in China" but I'm not sure how to know for sure.

The Happy Sacks are fairly comparable in price to the Wrap 'n Mats too, I think.

So if the wrap n mats made in China are PUL, those with a stash of PUL from diaper making should be able to whip some up, right? Is all PUL made equal?

FWIW I think the lunch bags are small. I can fit a sandwich, a small piece of fruit and one snack item in it. A brown bag fits quite a bit more. If I had it to do over I'd buy their fabric by the yard and make my own lunch bag. Just my 2 cents though.

Yes, we don't use them as lunch bags, just as bigger reusable bags (when we need something bigger than the Happy Sacks). For lunches, we have the Laptop Lunchbox System and LOVE it.

I would be interested in the coop, but can't access the page. Is it because I don't have enough posts?

Guess that's what happens when I lurk!!

I'm not sure where you are in NC, but I saw Happy Sacks at a store in Chapel Hill.
